Although Meghan is American-born and Prince Harry is British, The Daily Mail performed a ‘genealogical investigation’ in October 2017, revealing that the two are allegedly cousins dating back to the 15th century. The connection is on Markle's father's side, but it was 15 generations ago, so it’s not exactly a close relationship.
Did Meghan Change?
Meghan Markle’s estranged half-sister Samantha Markle was apparently set to release a tell-all book in December 2017 and even called Meghan a “social climber” in an interview. Samantha said, “Hollywood has changed her,” and that Meghan almost forgot about her after gaining high social status, but one person close to the family says that Samantha isn’t a credible source.
Career Vs marriage
Markle was previously married to producer Trevor Engelson for two years before they split, citing “irreconcilable differences.” Former friend Ninaki Pridy said that Markle's career ultimately led to the demise of the marriage, while another person close to the couple admitted that the stress of the long-distance relationship likely resulted in the divorce.
A Secret Royal Fascination?
Meghan and Harry revealed in their engagement interview that they’d met on a blind date, and she didn't know too much about the royal family or Harry previously. However, her former friend Ninaki Priddy said, “I know the Royal Family was something she found fascinating,” and she even “had one of Princess Diana's books on her bookshelf.”
Her Shady Family Ties
Some have claimed that lying is something of a family trait for the Markles, and Meghan’s estranged half-sister, Samantha Markle, admitted to staging infamous paparazzi shots of their father, who has admitted to lying. Thomas Markle revealed that he concocted a story about the Sussexes contacting him after he missed their wedding following a heart attack, “and that was all a lie.”
