What Happened To Jenelle Evans' Ex-Husband, Courtland Rodgers?
When "16 and Pregnant" first aired in 2009, it was a smash hit. The world was introduced to Jenelle Evans in the Season 2 premiere. Per IMDb, Jenelle was a "North Carolina beach bunny who loves partying, realizes her long-distance boyfriend isn't coming back, and that she's too immature to raise a baby herself." Andrew Lewis was the "long-distance boyfriend" and father of Jace Vahn Evans. He was an absentee dad, leaving Jenelle to raise their son alone. In theory, she had the help of her mom, Barbara Evans, but they had a contentious and toxic relationship.
Barbara eventually took over full-time care of Jace, resulting in Jenelle and her mom's messy public feud as they duked it out in a 12-year-long custody battle. Jenelle went on to star in the "Teen Mom" franchises, and it was apparent her lifestyle was hindering any chances of winning Jace back. Aside from Jenelle's many arrests, there was the fact she had a penchant for bad boys.
Us Weekly reports that Jenelle's first post-pregnancy relationship was with Kieffer Delp. It was tumultuous, combative, and even criminal — literally. Jenelle then became engaged for two weeks to Gary Head. It was stormy and violent and ended in both of them being arrested. Jenelle seemed to have turned a corner when she married Courtland Rodgers. But it quickly went very wrong after the two became a reality TV Bonnie and Clyde. There's definitely a pattern here. So, what happened to Jenelle Evans' ex-husband, Courtland Rodgers?
Jenelle Evans and Courtland Rodgers lasted just months
It looked like Jenelle Evans was finally settling down and gaining some stability when she married Courtland Rodgers. Actually, scrap that; it was a disaster from the get-go. Jenelle announced their engagement in a really messy PDA-packed 2012 UStream video. Despite Jenelle and Rodgers being obviously wasted, she denied rumors of drug use and shared she and her fiancé couldn't wait to have kids.
In her memoir, "Read Between the Lines: From the Diary of a Teenage Mom," Jenelle admitted she was a "junkie" at the time, shooting heroin multiple times a day. Jenelle also shared she was pregnant with Rodgers' baby but had a termination. "I know people judge me harshly for my choice," she wrote. "If you are hoping for a long, detailed description of what I was going through at the time of my decision, I hate to disappoint you. I have talked about it enough."
Per The Sun, Rodgers and Jenelle's marriage was short-lived. However, it was an action-packed time as the couple was arrested for assault and heroin possession in 2013. When their divorce was finalized in 2014, Jenelle was heavily pregnant with now ex-fiancé Nathan Griffith's baby, Kaiser. "I'm excited that we got this done before my baby's born, and I'm just happy that my last name's Evans again and not Rodgers," Jenelle said on "Teen Mom 2" (via People). Meanwhile, things continued to spiral downwards for Rodgers with more drugs, assaults, and arrests.
Courtland Rodgers had a tough time after Jenelle Evans
Things didn't go well for Jenelle Evans post-divorce. She continued her arrest and bad boy spree, ending with her marriage to David Eason in 2017 (as of this writing, at least). Jenelle's second marriage also ended her "Teen Mom" career after Eason was accused of homophobia and then shot the family dog in 2019. Things didn't go much better for Courtland Rodgers.
The Sun reports Rodgers also married again and had a son with his wife, Lindsey Frazier. However, his substance abuse continued, resulting in another arrest for drug possession and spelling the end of his marriage. "I'm getting divorced because he has not been an active part of my sons' lives and has not seen his son Kash since his birth at the hospital," Frazier told The Sun. She said she was desperate for him to get help for his addiction. "When he is sober he is a great guy, but sometimes drugs get a hold of a person and doesn't want to let go," Frazier added.
In a bizarre twist of fate, while Rodgers was married to Jenelle, he shared a jail cell with her future husband for two months. "[Eason] knew we were married. I would always talk about her," Rodgers told RadarOnline. "He would sit there and listen and give me feedback." However, as of this writing, it appears Rodgers' life is finally back on track. His Instagram is filled with pics of him and his kids, and he looks happy and sober.
