Elton John's Mother Passes Away At 92
The "Tiny Dancer" singer has lost his beloved mother.
Sir Elton John took to Twitter early Monday, Dec. 4, 2017, to alert his fans that his mother, Sheila Farebrother, has sadly passed away at the age of 92.
"So sad to say that my mother passed away this morning. I only saw her last Monday and I am in shock," he shared in a heartfelt message, captioning a photo of the two together at the Fifth Annual White Tie and Tiara Ball benefiting his foundation in June 2003. "Travel safe Mum. Thank you for everything. I will miss you so much. Love, Elton."

According to Entertainment Tonight, the 70-year-old pop legend, who recently paid tribute to his dear friend Princess Diana on the anniversary of her death, had just performed in Barcelona, Spain the Sunday before. He has multiple performances scheduled in Europe and Asia throughout the month of December. At the time of this writing, there is no news as to whether John, who resumed his Las Vegas residency following a major health scare earlier this year, will postpone these tour dates in the wake of this mother's death.
As the website noted, rumors have swirled in recent years that John and Farebrother had fallen out of touch. However, he wished her a Happy Mother's Day in May 2017 with a sweet Instagram post, which hinted at a recent reconciliation. "Dear Mum, Happy Mother's Day!" the "Your Song" hitmaker captioned a snapshot of the two. "So happy we are back in touch. Love, Elton."
Our thoughts are with John and his loved ones during this difficult time.
