Rance Howard, Actor Father Of Ron Howard, Dies At 89
Hollywood veteran Rance Howard, the father of director Ron Howard, died at the age of 89 on Nov. 25, 2017.
Ron took to Twitter that same day to announce his father's death.
"Clint & I have been blessed to be Rance Howard's sons. Today he passed at 89," Ron wrote. "He stood especially tall 4 his ability to balance ambition w/great personal integrity. A depression-era farm boy, his passion for acting changed the course of our family history. We love & miss U Dad."

The actor's career spanned more than six decades during which he appeared in films such as How the Grinch Stole Christmas and A Beautiful Mind. Rance also acted in several of his son's films like Apollo 13 and Ron's directorial debut, Grand Theft Auto.
Rance is survived by his sons and granddaughter Bryce Dallas Howard.
Following the news of her grandfather's death, Bryce took to Instagram to share a poem about death called "Gone From My Sight" by Henry Van Dyke Jr., captioning it, "My grandfather, the patriarch of our family's favorite poem, he could recite it from heart. I think I'll do the same now."
