Jimmy Fallon Dishes On Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake Split
The Tonight Show host is opening up about the pop stars' former fling.
Jimmy Fallon dished on his bestie Justin Timberlake's 2002 breakup with Britney Spears during his Thursday, Nov. 2, 2017 appearance on Bravo's Watch What Happens Live. During a round of the game "Plead the Fifth," the comedian revealed that he met the Y2K couple, who starred on Disney's Mickey Mouse Club as kids, the same year they broke up.
"We used to hang out all the time with Britney as well," he told host Andy Cohen (via Entertainment Tonight), adding that her name still occasionally comes up in conversation. "That's how we met each other on Saturday Night Live. I remember going to a Super Bowl party at Planet Hollywood that Britney and Justin were having. It was just really fun."
When Cohen asked, "At the time did you think, 'These two are never breaking up. This is amazing,'" Fallon gave him a knowing look and simply shook his head no.
The former SNL cast member also talked Timberlake's upcoming Super Bowl halftime show performance. But when asked if JT planned to invite Janet Jackson on stage—a reference to their controversial "wardrobe malfunction" incident at the show in 2004—Fallon replied, "That's top secret." However, he did give the "Mirrors" singer's efforts his stamp of approval, adding, "He has so many ideas for this thing. It's going to be the biggest show ever."
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Spears and Timberlake were the "It Couple" in the early 2000s, having dated between 1999 and 2002. Timberlake later accused the "Baby One More Time" singer of cheating in his not-so-subtle ballad "Cry Me A River."
