Queer Eye Season 7 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far
Who's ready to party like it's Mardi Gras? Netflix just revealed new information about the highly anticipated "Queer Eye" Season 7 — and we simply cannot wait.
Back in 2018, Netflix rebooted the ultra-popular "Queer Eye for the Straight Guy" series after it initially aired between 2003 and 2007, according to IMDb. Taking after the original, the reboot follows the same premise where a group of five gay men work to recreate the lives of those looking for a makeover. Since the reboot's premiere in 2018, "Queer Eye" has been a hit on Netflix, becoming one of the longest series made by the platform, on the platform, per Insider.
Yet, each episode of "Queer Eye" brings not only life-changing moments for those the "Fab Five" are making over, but the show also works to teach love and acceptance to those different than them. Diverging from the original, instead of just finding those in need of a makeover within the Big Apple, Netflix's reboot travels around the nation teaching their clients and the audience about acceptance, vulnerability and love from Georgia to Missouri to Illinois. And with the sixth season of the show hitting Netflix right before the New Year, fans are not only done binging the new season, but they are already dying to know what is up the Fab Five's sleeves for Season 7. Luckily for fans, we have all the information you need to know.
Where will Season 7 of Queer Eye take place?
Break out the beads, the crawfish, and the purple, yellow, and green because "Queer Eye" is headed to New Orleans for Season 7!
Announcing the news in June, Netflix gave fans just what they wanted — a sneak peek of the new season and the fun that's to come. "The Fab 5 just arrived in The Big Easy and are already dripping in Mardi Gras beads," the show wrote in its Instagram announcement. "We're so excited to join the party in this amazing city. Get ready for new adventures and more tears real soon."
Following the announcement, each member of the "Queer Eye" cast posted an individual photo from the promotional shoot the cast took while in New Orleans. "Reunited with my favorite phone stealers I mean fashion, design, culture and food experts," grooming professional Jonathan Van Ness wrote. "So excited to meet new heroes, explore New Orleans, and create new memories with our "Queer Eye" crew," he continued. Adding to that, Antoni Porowski, the expert on food and wine, captioned his photo, saying, "Excited for all the beignets I mean all the wonderful heroes this season on 'Queer Eye.'" And it seems the stars are hinting that the season will likely arrive sooner rather than later because, based on their social media activity, the Fab Five has already arrived in New Orleans, proving that Season 7 is only that much closer.
Who will star in Season 7 of Queer Eye?
No need to get your beads in a tangle because, have no fear, the traditional Fab Five will return for "Queer Eye" Season 7.
According to E! News, coming into this season, each member will continue to offer their expertise, with Jonathan Van Ness as the grooming expert, Bobby Berk as the design expert, Antoni Porowski as the expert on food and wine, Tan France as the fashion expert, and Kamaro Brown as the culture expert.
Yet, while fans are more than ready to see the Fab Five take on their roles once again, fans are also ready to learn who the group will be making over. However, fans will be happy to know that "Queer Eye" Season 7 is still looking to add heroes to its next season. As part of the Season 7 announcement, a message popped up requesting fans nominate or apply to be one of the lucky heroes this season. And it didn't take long for fans to not only fan girl over the upcoming season, but also the possibility of being on the show. "My wedding is coming up and my parents could really benefit from the amazing help you fabulous people bring to the world," one fan wrote. Another added a comment to her friend, hoping for positive news: "I wonder, did they pick us!" they wrote excitedly. But, with no premiere date set yet, it seems fans will just have to hold onto their beads and wait and see.
Expect plenty of tears in Season 7
It looks like the seventh season of Queer Eye is set to be the series' most emotional entry yet. Since its first season, the beloved show has featured an array of heartfelt moments between the Fab Five and their designated "Heroes." But according to fashion expert Tan France, the new batch of episodes — which take place in New Orleans — made him more emotional than previous seasons. "I cried more this season than I've ever cried on 'Queer Eye' ever," he told E! News in November 2022. "I've only cried twice on 'Queer Eye' in the full seven seasons — the six seasons, and then the mini-season in Japan. But I cried most episodes with this."
France went on to say that seeing the "heroes" coping with life in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina was the primary reason for his emotional reaction. "Seeing the devastation, seeing what it did to the families, seeing how much poverty it created, that's what got me," he explained. "And so that's why the transformations were so special, because it's as if many of them have stood still in time." For many, it was as if time had stood still since the category five hurricane struck in August 2005, wreaking havoc on the Gulf Coast region of the United States with winds reaching 100-140 miles per hour and causing dangerous floods. The resulting damage — which was estimated to exceed $100 billion – left many New Orleans residents unable to return to their homes or communities.
Queer Eye's Fab Five might look different in the future
Since 2018, the Fab Five from "Queer Eye" have captured the hearts of viewers worldwide. While the cast has changed countless lives and helped change the landscape of LGBTQ+ representation on TV, some Fab Five members have opened up about their futures with the popular series. In June 2022 interview with Insider, Tan France hinted that the current Fab Five rotation might end soon due to them entering their "middle-aged" period. "I don't know how much people will care about our opinion on fashion and hair and whatever when we go into the middle-aged period of our life," he said. "I'm sure that they'll want somebody younger and hipper to advise [the heroes]."
A few months after the fashion designer's interview, his co-star and resident food expert Antoni Porowski shared his thoughts on the matter while appearing on "Watch What Happens Live" with Andy Cohen. "Well, I am all for love and abundance. We don't have to be the only ones," he explained. "Eventually, I think we're gonna have to pass the torch, and I hope that the show goes on forever because I think that it's important. It has meaning, and I'd be okay with it." He then joked that he hopes to have a "job lined up" when that time comes. While the future of the current Fab Five may be uncertain, we look forward to soaking up all of their expertise during Queer Eye's upcoming seventh season.
