Are Myrla And Gil From Married At First Sight Still Together?

Myrla Feria and Gil Cuero are known as one of the breakout couples from the Houston edition of "Married at First Sight" season 13, according to People. The Lifetime series first aired in 2014 and is now celebrating a major milestone going into its 15th season, per Us Weekly. Throughout the past eight years, "Married at First Sight" has successfully paired 14 couples who are still married to this day and nine children were born in the process, the network's official bio states.

Relationship experts Pastor Cal Roberson, Dr. Pepper Schwartz, and Dr. Viviana Coles paired Feria and Cuero together because they whole-heartedly believed they were a good match based on their core family views and because their strengths and weaknesses balanced one another out, according to In Touch Weekly. Although they were faced with several differences in their marriage, fans genuinely rooted for this couple to establish a common ground and stick it out.

According to Reel Rundown, after the show's two-month process is over, they each get to make the big decision of whether or not they would like to stay married or get divorced. While viewers were at the edge of their seats unsure of what Cuero and Feria would decide, the pair ultimately agreed to stay married, per Meaww. However, no one could have foreseen how their love story really turned out.

Myrla Feria wanted a more financially stable man

According to E! News, just two weeks after Myrla Feria and Gil Cuero decided to stay married, they chose to part ways and ended their relationship. So what exactly happened between these two? During the "Married at First Sight" reunion episode, Cuero made the shocking announcement that Feria no longer wanted to be with him and ended their marriage. However, according to his partner, she couldn't get past two things — finances and lack of chemistry. "For me, the initial attraction and chemistry was not there from the beginning and I realized I was not happy," Feria said at the reunion (via E! News). "I think there was an attraction that came, but for me, there has to be more."

As far as the financial issues, Feria wanted Cuero to offer some sort of stability when it came to their future. And, in that regard, is where she revealed they differed a lot. "I was not willing to compromise on God-fearing or financial stability, meaning someone who knew how to manage their finances and was in a financially similar place as me," she said during an interview with RealiTV with Bee (via Cheat Sheet).

While those were the turning points for Feria, Cuero on the other hand had his own reasons as to why their marriage didn't work out.

Gil Cuero says he was 'blindsided'

As seen throughout the season, Gil Cuero and Myrla Feria struggled with chemistry and the lack of intimacy in their marriage. Several weeks into their relationship, their fellow cast members gathered for a hangout at their house and asked whether they had kissed yet. "Short answer is no, long answer is no," Cuero confessed. While that unfortunately put a big strain on their marriage, the two were able to push through, and both chose to stay married on Decision Day.

However, at the "Married at First Sight" reunion, Cuero revealed they only lasted fourteen days after the show ended because Feria no longer wanted to be with him. "The biggest issue I have with all of this was that she felt like this from the very beginning," he told host Kevin Frazier (via E! News). He went on to claim that he was "blindsided" by it all. "I completely understand if she's not attracted to me, she doesn't think I'm the man for her," Cuero added. "I don't want to force anybody to be with me if they don't want to be with me."

Since their split, Cuero has been focused on going to therapy and making sure he heals first. "This time I want to learn from my past and I want to do it in the opposite way, which I believe is the right way, so I won't fall into those same patterns," he said on the "Dear Future Wifey" podcast (via Essence).
