What Really Happened To Caleb And Alina From 90 Day Fiance?
Alina Kozhevnikova and Caleb Greenwood made their television debut on Season 5 of the TLC hit series "90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days," per Entertainment Tonight. The outlet reported that the couple's love story began over a decade ago after they initially came across each other on social media when they were just 15 years old. They eventually lost contact, but after 13 years, they were able to reconnect after matching on a dating app.
Kozhevnikova is an aspiring singer from Russia and her partner Greenwood is from Arizona, according to Us Weekly. What made this pair unique was more than just distance. Kozhevnikova has a condition called diastrophic dysplasia, which Johns Hopkins Medicine defines as a hereditary disorder that affects the cartilage in various body parts, including the face, ears, feet, hips, legs, and spine. "It's rare and it affects everybody differently," Kozhevnikova further explained on the show (via Us Weekly). "In Russia, a lot of people, they don't take me seriously, they don't treat me as an equal person, but Caleb did and I'm glad he did."
For several episodes, viewers got an inside look into the ins and out of their relationship. However, just as their story was getting interesting, fans were left wondering why they were abruptly cut from the show.
TLC fired Alina over racist social media posts
Reality star Alina Kozhevnikova was fired from "90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days" due to her old racist posts on social media, and as a result, it ultimately affected her relationship with Caleb Greenwood, per Deadline. However, their relationship was starting to go downhill right before they got the boot. According to Screen Rant, Greenwood was having a hard time adjusting to Kozhevnikova's height, considering she was the first little person he had ever dated. "The reason I need time is because this is all new to me," he said on the show. "I'm not used to dating little people."
Shortly after, while they were working on identifying whether or not they were going to be in a committed relationship, Kozhevnikova's racist posts resurfaced, which caused their exit. As a result, TLC immediately took action and discontinued filming with Kozhevnikova. "She will not appear on the upcoming 'Tell All,' any future seasons of the franchise, and starting next month, she will no longer appear on 'Before the 90 Days,'" the network said in a statement obtained by Page Six. "TLC does not tolerate racism or discrimination of any kind."
After her jaw-dropping posts came to light, people continued to uncover more of her insensitive commentary, where she not only mocked other races, but continued to freely use the N-word. Although Kozhevnikova issued a formal apology video, she has since fired back and called out TLC for having a "double standard."
Alina slams TLC for not firing fellow castmate Mike Berk
Alina Kozhevnikova has a lot to say in regards to being cut from "90 Day Fiancé: Before the 90 Days" after TLC gave her the boot for her racially charged social media posts. In a 12-minute video titled "It's always bad," the reality star slams the network for not holding her former castmate Mike Berk accountable for what he did.
According to Screen Rant, Berk faced some serious backlash after fans discovered he too shared several racist Instagram posts and memes expressing distain for former President Barack Obama and the LGBTQ+ community. "My posts and my behavior were addressed, and the sanctions were put on me because of them, but nothing was addressed when the same thing happened to my castmate," Kozhevnikova claimed in her video. "He didn't do anything, nor the network."
As for Kozhevnikova's love life, In Touch Weekly reported she and Caleb Greenwood have split and it appears there's no hard feelings, considering the two still follow each other on social media.
