Maggie Gyllenhaal Addresses Infamous Taylor Swift Lyric About Brother Jake
Maggie Gyllenhaal might have just poked a hole in one of Taylor Swift's most infamous breakup songs.
Back in 2012, when the old Swift was alive and well, the songstress released her highly-acclaimed Red album. On said album was a song that still shakes Swifties to their core to this day, "All Too Well." The song is supposedly a long-form lament about her relationship with Jake Gyllenhaal. Gyllenhaal, like most of Swift's ex-lovers, has decided that he would rather not discuss their relationship. Unfortunately for his big sister, that means that the questions have started being pointed in her direction.
In one particular line from the song, Swift directly references her ex's older sibling, singing, "Left my scarf there at your sister's house / And you've still got it in your drawer even now." On Sept. 12, 2017, Gyllenhaal appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen and revealed that she's not really sure what scarf the Reputation singer is talking about.
"I never understood why everybody asked me about this scarf," she said. "What is this?"
Cohen went on to explain the story behind the song and the lyric, but Gyllenhaal was still in the dark about the whole situation. "It's totally possible. I don't know, but I have been asked this before and I have been like, 'What are you talking about?'"
While we wait and see if Gyllenhaal can dig up that scarf, check out a breakdown of Swift's "Look What You Made Me Do" video for any shady details you might have missed.
