Serena Williams Shares Name, First Photo Of Baby Girl
The tennis champ is opening up about her first child.
On Wednesday, Sept. 13, 2017, Serena Williams shared her very first photo of her recently-born baby girl on Instagram. And, as if that weren't enough, she also announced her daughter's name. "Meet Alexis Olympia Ohanian Jr.," she wrote in the caption.
Williams, 35, also shared a link to her website, which now boasts a sweet YouTube video from fiancé Alexis Ohanian's account that chronicles the entire pregnancy—from the first ultrasound that confirmed that the couple was expecting a baby to the moment they were able to take their daughter home.
"So we're leaving the hospital after six, seven days," Williams said in the video while holding her newborn child. "It's been a long time, but we had a lot of complications, but look who we got — we got a baby girl!"
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Williams and Ohanian welcomed their first child together into the world on Sept. 1. Reporter Chris Shepard was the first to tweet the news, writing, "Tennis star Serena Williams gives birth to a baby girl weighing 6 pounds, 13 ounces. Mom and baby doing well."
According to reports, Williams had been admitted to St. Mary's Medical Center in Palm Beach, Fla. on Wednesday, Aug. 30 and later had labor induced.
