Love & Hip Hop Miami Season 5 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far
VH1's "Love & Hip Hop" has been a staple part of the network's lineup since 2011. The franchise began with the original "Love & Hip Hop" over a decade ago, and shows no signs of slowing down. The show chronicles the journey of prominent hip-hop figures as they navigate through life and romantic relationships. The first cast, which was based in New York, included rapper Jim Jones (alongside his girlfriend Chrissy Lampkin), Joe Budden, and singer Olivia.
The network has since produced several spinoffs and television specials — including the popular "Love & Hip Hop: Miami." For fans of the original show, the Florida-based franchise provided just as much drama. The first season of the show, which debuted in 2018, featured hip-hop icons Trina and Trick Daddy, in addition to several Miami newcomers. However, the fate of the popular show has been in limbo since the network aired their surprise fourth season in 2021. So will there be a Season 5? Here's what we know so far.
Who could be in the cast?
The hit VH1 reality show "Love & Hip Hop: Miami" quickly became a franchise favorite since premiering in 2018. Similar to the network's other "Love & Hip Hop" shows, the Miami-based installment has several staple cast members. Rappers Trina and Trick Daddy, along with singer Amara La Negra, all returned for Season 4 of the show, alongside a few new faces.
When the trailer for Season 4 of "Love & Hip Hop: Miami" was released in 2021, fans were surprised to learn that the show had added two new members, rappers N.O.R.E. and Ace Hood. N.O.R.E., known for his hit 2002 single "Nothing," seemed like an obvious choice. The rapper garnered renewed public interest as the host of the uber-successful "Drink Champs" podcast, and regularly speaks about his wife, Neri. While Ace Hood is still actively making music, he even runs his own Instagram fitness account, which boasts workout plans and general tips for living a healthy lifestyle.
While details about the upcoming season remain sparse, it appears a few of the show's original cast members are planning to return. Trina, who has been on the show since its inception, got engaged in September 2021 and, reports say the proposal was filmed by a production crew. Meanwhile, Amara La Negra recently revealed that her on-again, off-again boyfriend Allan Mueses –- who is also featured on the VH1 series – is the father of her unborn twins, leaving room for interesting storyline.
When could it premiere?
Fans of "Love & Hip Hop: Miami" were left puzzled when Season 4 of the show wrapped in 2021 with no mention of a return. However, Season 4 of the series had a similar rollout. According to The Futon Critic, the network failed to announce plans to bring back the Florida-based installment of the franchise until just weeks before the schedule premiere. The lack of a formal rollout in 2021 may have left fans hopeful for a surprise fifth season.
According to Premiere Date, VH1 has yet to formally announce plans for Season 5, but considering last year's surprise premiere, fans should just hold their collective breath. The first three seasons of the reality show aired at the start of their respective years, while Season 4 did not come until August 2021. The fate of the show is still up in the air, but considering the impact COVID-19 had on most television productions, anything can happen.
