The Untold Truth Of Gia Giudice
Gia Giudice has spent a large part of her childhood in front of a camera. Gia is the eldest daughter of Teresa Giudice, the controversial star of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey." With the cameras always around, that world has seen all the good and bad moments of the Giudice family. With all the legal drama surrounding her parents making headlines, she's had to grow up pretty quickly and in front of an audience.
She's all grown up now, and has shown us that even though her mother is an iconic star in the world of reality television, she's chosen a more private life. Outside of random appearances on the hit show, Gia has settled into a regular adult life that revolves around school, dabbling in fashion, and remaining family-oriented. Here are some untold truths about Gia Giudice that the Bravo cameras might have missed.
She's had her own reality TV drama
Now that Gia Giudice is all grown up, she's become fair game in petty "Housewives" drama. In Season 11 of "The Real Housewives of New Jersey," Giudice had her name dragged into her mother's nasty feud with cast member Jackie Goldschneider. After Theresa Giudice was accused of spreading fake cheating rumors about her husband, Jackie Goldschneider went for the jugular. In a sit down between the two, things turned heated after Goldschneider attempted to explain how hurtful rumors are with an analogy involving Gia Giudice and drugs. "I heard Gia snorts coke in the bathroom at parties. I heard it! I don't know where I heard it from," Goldshneid explained as Theresa stormed off.
When the episode aired, Gia Giudice took to her Twitter to explain how hurtful the analogy was tweeting, "My name was used to make a point. No one should be used in that way, I am suffering the consequences for such an outlandish and untrue statement." While appearing on "Watch What Happens Live" she explained further the behind-the-scenes fall out from Goldschneider's analogy. The young star revealed she had multiple complaints from her sorority after that episode aired and reached out to Goldschneider for an apology. Goldschneider later apologized to her and explained her comments to ET stating, "It was definitely just an analogy. I was trying to make the point about ... how words can hurt."
She turned a meme into a business
Gia Giudice has made minor appearances on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey" over the years alongside her parents. As a spunky child, she often chimed in on topics to offer funny comments, and other times she revealed rare emotions about the drama surrounding her family. One moment, in particular, went viral thanks in part to Cardi B and Will Smith. In Season 3, Giudice performed a song she wrote herself about the rift between her mother and uncle. When the song randomly went viral on TikTok and produced countless funny memes, she decided to get creative.
She revealed to Bravo Insider that she was originally shocked and confused when the song took off on social media but decided to own it. "I saw that my song was going viral, and I was like, 'Wait, this is like the perfect door-opener to be starting something really cool," she said.
In 2021, Giudice launched g.g.est.2001, a chic clothing line featuring sweatshirts and sweatpants that feature her signature "Waking up in the morning" lyrics. With that fashion line, she even has hopes to design the perfect denim for curvy bodies like her own.
Her family drama gave her dreams of becoming a lawyer
Like any child, Gia Giudice was devastated after both of her parents were sent to jail in 2015 and her father was eventually deported to Italy. Having both of her parents ripped from her at a young age opened her eyes to the harsh realities of the legal system. The young adult is attending Rutgers University as of this writing, and told Andy Cohen that she's studying law in hopes of helping families like hers, per The Daily Dish. "[My parents] whole experience influenced me, honestly, for the better," Giudice told Cohen. "I just want to help families and be able to be there for families and help children, honestly, especially."
Giudice is currently set to graduate in 2023. In an interview with People, she gave some important advice to college students living on their own for the time. "When you get to school, be open to meeting people," she said. "That's the whole thing freshman year. Knock on everyone's door and say hello. Introduce yourself." Giudice seems to have a great head on her shoulders. We're sure her legal expertise will come in handy with her fellow Bravo stars facing legal troubles.
She's not afraid to defend her father
When Joe Giudice was charged with mail, wire, and bankruptcy fraud in 2014, he faced a lot of criticism from viewers and castmates –- especially his own brother-in-law. Even though their divorce was finalized in 2020, Teresa Giudice has always kept her comments about him neutral in order to protect their daughters. However, Gia Giudice has never been shy about her support for him. She's publicly defended her father in the past on social media after his deportation, but things have gotten messier on "The Real Housewives of New Jersey."
Gia and her uncle Joe Gorga have gone head-to-head in the 2022 season on the topic of her father. Gia can be seen angrily confronting him about the not-so-nice things he had to say about her father. "I'm done with you being disrespectful. You're not going to talk down to me either," she told him. Gorga found the tone of his niece disrespectful and stormed off, but Gia followed him to continue the discussion. "It comes to a point where the bashing is just too much. This is also me defending my sisters, too, because they've been through enough," she added. "The jail thing happened five years ago. Let it go under the bridge." With Gia being the oldest daughter, it's clear she has taken on the role of family spokesperson and is not afraid to confront those attacking her loved ones, even if it is her own uncle.
She stepped up in a major way when her mom went to prison
In 2014, Teresa Giudice was sentenced to 15 months in prison for bankruptcy fraud. As Giudice was sent off to serve her sentence, it was Gia Giudice who stepped up to help her father take care of the home. Her aunt Melissa Gorga praised Gia for her strength during the entire ordeal, telling People, "She's doing a very good job of being positive. I think they're doing an unbelievable job of keeping things normal." In Bravo's "Teresa Checks In" special (via People), the eldest Giudice daughter spoke about how she tried her best to keep it together in her mother's absence.
One thing that helped was constant communication. At the time Gia told Access Hollywood, "We can talk to her on a daily (basis) and we have access to emailing her whenever we want," she said. "So that's amazing. It definitely helps with, like, coping with missing her and stuff" (Via Daily News). As Joe Giudice dealt with taking care of young girls, he was grateful to have the support of his daughter. He explained to E! that she was practically running the household while Teresa Giudice was away. "Gia is very mature for her age, which is good. So is Gabriella, and having them two around was a big help."
Her music video caused some controversy
Outside of her memorable "Waking up in the morning" song, Gia Giudice had multiple attempts at a music career. Back in 2014, she was featured in a girl group called 3KT and the trio made headlines after they released a cover of Britney Spears' song "Circus." Gia, who was 13 years old at the time, appeared in a music video wearing outfits that some considered inappropriate for her age.
The inappropriate outfits in question were bustiers, crop tops, and tight gold shorts. Though it caused some backlash, a source close to the Giudice family told Us Weekly, this attempt at a music career was a necessary distraction from the legal drama Teresa Giudice was in at the time. "She wants Gia to have an activity to distract her," the source said. "The group is making both Teresa and Gia very happy because they can focus all their attention on something positive." The reasoning made a lot of sense since this music video was released just two months before Teresa Giudice was set to serve a 15-month prison sentence.
She shut down engagement rumors
The eldest Giudice daughter has found love! Gia Giudice has reportedly been dating Christian Carmichael for over two years. The pair have shared countless lovey-dovey pictures on Instagram and she's even introduced him to her father. The couple visited Joe Guidice in the Bahamas in 2021. Carmichael seemed to have won Dad's approval as the three can be seen smiling in photos during the trip.
According to Carmichael's Instagram, he currently works as a real estate agent. As the pair celebrated the two-year mark of their relationship, rumors began to swirl about a possible engagement. Giudice set the record straight with Celebuzz and said, "We are happily together as boyfriend and girlfriend but definitely there is no engagement here." Other than sweet Instagram photos together, not much else is known about the pair. Giudice seems to prefer to keep her personal life under wraps.
