Drake Bell Opens Up About Josh Peck Wedding Tweets
The former Drake & Josh stars have patched things up.
Well actually, there wasn't really much to patch up, according to Drake Bell, who spoke with Entertainment Tonight about the angry messages he tweeted in July 2017 after finding out he was snubbed from his one-time TV bro's wedding.
Nicki Swift previously reported that Bell tweeted and deleted these two shade-filled messages regarding Josh Peck's nuptials: "When you're not invited to the wedding the message is clear...Loyalty is key...ALWAYS remember where you came from" and "True colors have come out today. Message is loud and clear. Ties are officially cut. I'll miss you brotha."
But Bell now says that he was just being "cranky," and he's realized that he "should have just texted that" to Peck.
"We've been together 18 years, Josh and me, me and Josh," Bell told ET. "We've been so close, it was just one of those things where you know, I'd been talking to him, and he's been telling me about the engagement. And then I saw on social media, the wedding, and I didn't hear about it. So, it was just one of those things where it was just like, 'You didn't even tell me?! I had to find out on social media?' And then you're like, 'You know what!? Fine!' and then I'm like, wait, I probably shouldn't have done that."
Bell also explained that the whole thing was nothing more than "sibling rivalry for a minute," adding that he and Peck have "gone through every up and down that you can think two guys can go through."
"It's just what brothers go through, what best friends [go through] it's the yin and yang of brotherly love," Bell said.
Bell also said he was "shocked" at the response the story got, and that it "bummed him out" when people lashed out at Peck, adding, "I was reading the comments and thinking, 'Wait a minute, you know, I can say it but you can't!' I was like wanting to defend Josh, be like 'Whoa, easy guys, easy. This is between us.'"
But don't worry, Drake & Josh superfans, because there's no bad blood between the Nickelodeon stepbrothers. In fact, Bell even went a step further and said he's dying to work with Peck again.
"It is what it is dude. I love the kid," Bell said, continuing, "I would work with him until I'm 80 years, you know. I wanna make Grumpy Old Men with the guy. I wanna make The Odd Couple when we're old, you know? So no hard feelings."
But while Bell is on board for a reunion, Peck, who has remained silent on the entire wedding debacle, has yet to sign off. "You gotta talk to Peck, you gotta talk to Josh," Bell said.
Oh boy. Something tells us the Internet might latch onto that one, too.
