Ryan Seacrest Officially Returning To Host American Idol
He's back!
The busiest man in Hollywood made time in his schedule for the show that made him a household name. Ryan Seacrest is will officially be serving as host of the American Idol reboot on ABC. On Thursday, July 20, 2017, Seacrest announced the good news with Kelly Ripa on their morning show, Live with Kelly and Ryan.
The president of ABC Entertainment, Channing Dungey, released a statement regarding Seacrest's involvement in the new series (via The Hollywood Reporter), saying, "So much of American Idol's overwhelming success can be attributed to Ryan, whose larger-than-life personality and laudable dedication to creating quality entertainment has made him a true master of his craft."
He continued, "His talent is limitless, and I can't think of a more appropriate person to honor the Idol legacy as it takes on new life than the man who has been there through it all."
Seacrest, 42, certainly has a crazy schedule to keep up with now that he's added Idol host back on his list of gigs. THR notes that he'll have to be in Los Angeles on Sunday evenings for live Idol shows, then travel to New York to appear on Live and do his iHeartRadio show.
As Nicki Swift previously reported, Seacrest was closing in on a deal with Idol in late June. Seacrest reportedly wanted an executive producer credit in addition to his hosting role. No news yet if he got it.
While we wait for more news, catch up on what the other host of Idol is doing today.
