The Real Reason Julia Roberts Doesn't Wear Deodorant
Someone who has long been considered one of Hollywood's most beautiful stars is actor Julia Roberts. In fact, Roberts held the crown as People's Most Beautiful Woman in the World a record five times throughout her career. She earned the most recent title in 2017 at 49 years old and told the mag she believed the best was yet to come for her. "I think I'm currently peaking," she told the outlet.
Roberts further revealed her feelings about the title in an interview on "The Ellen DeGeneres Show." "Thank you is the appropriate response," she said of being named Most Beautiful Woman. "It's sweet, but it's also kind of embarrassing, but then it's flattering," she added. Roberts also acknowledged those who weren't fans of her award. "There's a group of people out there going, 'I don't get it.'"
On what she herself finds beautiful, Roberts told People, "All the corny answers are true." She noted that "People, to me, that seem truly happy," are the most beautiful in her eyes. With one of Hollywood's most unforgettable smiles, it seems the "Pretty Woman" actor is all about doing what makes her happy — even if it's rumored to be unhygienic. Why doesn't Roberts wear deodorant?
Julia Roberts is all natural
Julia Roberts revealed the personal care step she skips in a 2008 interview with Oprah Winfrey. "I don't actually use deodorant," she divulged (via Huffington Post). "I don't like to share that with a lot of people," she followed up. What's Roberts' reason for 86-ing deodorant? "It's just never been my thing," she explained.
An alleged former bodyguard shed some light on Roberts' all-natural approach to Star Magazine (via Inquisitr). The unnamed bodyguard described Roberts as a "total hippie" and revealed the star will go "days without showering." The bodyguard further added, "She likes to save water, she's really green." Roberts' former employee also alleged she refuses to wash her hair often because it gets "dry." In a 2018 WIRED interview, Roberts confirmed her hair texture — noting she has "naturally curly hair like Sally in 'Charlie Brown.'"
Apparently, Roberts is a fan of "the smell of her natural oils" and so does her husband, Danny Moder. "He doesn't care because he's just as much of a hippie," their bodyguard dished. "Those two are the farthest thing away from Hollywood glamour. They're grunge all the way."
Julia Roberts goes green at home
It's true Julia Roberts favors a more green approach to life. The "Erin Brockovich" star revealed to Vanity Fair in 2008 her dream was to be "a highly fulfilled and productive stay-at-home mom and wife" (via Huffington Post). "The highest high would be growing our food that I then make, and then composting and growing more–that kind of circle," she added.
Of course, life in the spotlight isn't easy, especially when Roberts likes to live in a more non-traditional way. "There has to be some natural understanding of what I feel good about, what can satisfy most people from me, and just try to find that happy balance," she said of her public and private life to USA Today. The wife and mom strives to do right by her children with her green lifestyle. "They love kid-food, but who doesn't?" Roberts told You Magazine (via the Daily Mail) in 2015. "They also like their salads."
She described to the outlet of a time her healthy habits were so ingrained into her kids they wouldn't eat movie theater snacks. "I found myself trying to coax my child to eat junk food!" she said. Ultimately, Roberts is aware her lifestyle and green eating habits are perks of being an A-lister. "It's a shame that we live in a country where eating healthy food is a luxury," she noted.
