Selling Sunset Season 5 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far
When Netflix's hit reality show "Selling Sunset" — which follows the drama and the deals from a group of LA-based realtors — wrapped its 4th season, viewers were already ready for more. Season 4 revolved mostly around the storyline and tension between Christine Quinn and newbie Emma Hernan, who shared a mutual ex. The finale ended with a dramatic scene between co-worker Mary Fitzgerald and Christine at a party, the conversation which ended in tears.
Christine also struggled after having her baby during the season. "They make fun of the fact of me being late in the show. 'Oh, Christine's late. Oh, Christine's late.' And it's because I was literally having panic attacks and I was worried about my pregnancy and something going wrong because every time I was working... It was a lion's den and these girls were pitted against me," she told ET Canada in December 2021. "And it was really, really difficult."
At the end of the last episode of Season 4, Netflix actually provided fans with an early teaser for Season 5, given that "Selling Sunset" had already been renewed.
What's the release date for Selling Sunset Season 5?
While Season 5 of Netflix's "Selling Sunset" doesn't have an official release date yet, fans can still expect quite a lot in store from their favorite drama-inducing realtors from The Oppenheim Group. According to The Sun, the reality show has already been renewed through its 7th season.
During a November 2021 interview with Women's Health, "Selling Sunset" star Davina Portratz also shared that Season 5 filmed shortly after the final events of Season 4 — with the cast getting just a three-week break in between.
This means that filming for Season 5 appeared to start sometime in the late spring or early summer of 2021, according to Mary Fitzgerald's post from May of 2021. It officially wrapped in December of 2021, which means there shouldn't be too long of a wait until it arrives on Netflix. In an Instagram post from December 19, cast members Chrishell Strause and Mary pose together with the caption, "Putting a bow on season 5 of #SellingSunset with the fam."
Who can we expect to see in Season 5?
After the tensions in "Selling Sunset" Season 4 between Christine Quinn and the rest of the ladies in the office, many fans were left wondering who all would be returning for a 5th season. From the early trailer at the end of the finale's episode, it appears that all the favorite ladies will be returning: Christine, Maya Vander, Chrishell Strause, Mary Fitzgerald, Davina Portratz, Amanza Smith, and Heather Rae Young.
Christine, in particular, explicitly confirmed the news that she'll return to a fan on social media. "I'm soooo tired of addressing this. I am in every single episode of Season 4 and 5 of 'Selling Sunset.' The girls leave me out of photos. I have real work to do besides sit on my phone and prove 24/7 that I'm filming a TV show. Y'all going to see me," she wrote, per Parade.
In addition, newcomers Emma Herman and Vanessa Villela are signed on for new episodes as well, appearing in the previews, as well as a Netflix cast list, according to House Beautiful.
What's the plot of Selling Sunset Season 5?
The storyline for "Selling Sunset" Season 5 appears to be a continuation of where the tensions left off between Christine Quinn and Emma Herman. Along with that, the news of cast member Chrishell Strause's relationship with The Oppenheim Group boss Jason Oppenheim was revealed in July 2021 and will likely be a large part of the next season. "There was definitely a transition. We had been so open about what we were looking for with each other because we had become close friends," Jason told Us Weekly in November of 2021. "She knew my dating life, and we would almost joke about our each other's dating lives and what we were looking for and things like that." However, the pair broke up in December, and it is still unclear if fans will see that play out or have to wait for future episodes.
Still, it appears that Chrishell's fellow co-stars were also supportive of their short-lived relationship. "We were out together and I noticed the way he was looking at her was different, so when she went to the bathroom I confronted him. When she came back Jason said, 'Sorry Chrishell, Mary knows,'" Mary Fitzgerald said during a November interview with Cosmopolitan UK. Fans will just have to tune in if there winds up being any drama for dating the boss.
