1000-Lb Sisters Season 4 Release Date, Cast, And More Information
For the past decade, TLC has become the go-to network for reality shows focused on lifestyle and personal struggles. In 2012, the network debuted "My 600-lb. Life,"a show about how morbidly obese patients transform their bodies and lives. Oftentimes, patients on the show are unable to walk or complete daily tasks because they are homebound. However, by chronicling their weight loss journey, many patients have found success keeping the weight off and are living normal lives now, according to Showbiz Cheatsheet.
Following the success of "My 600-lb. Life," TLC gave sisters Tammy and Amy Slaton an opportunity to address their own weight loss journey on their show "1000-lb. Sisters," which debuted on the network in 2020. Prior to getting their own show, the sisters accumulated a sizable following on Amy's YouTube channel, where they posted makeup tutorials and life updates, according to Screen Rant.
Despite having their own channels, the Slaton sisters didn't think the platform could give audiences a complete look at their weight loss journeys, which is why they signed on to appear on "1000-lb. Sisters." "Doing the show is one way to give us a different light because you can only show so much on YouTube," Amy told the Louisville Courier Journal in 2019. "This is actually day-to-day stuff that we deal with." For three seasons, the show has followed Amy's journey to becoming a mother and Tammy's health struggles. Here's what we can expect from Season 4.
When will 1000-lb Sisters Season 4 premiere?
Considering "1000-lb. Sisters" is currently airing its third season, per IMDb, TLC has not yet announced the show's renewal. The lack of news regarding the show's future has prompted many fans to speculate if the show's current season will be its last. As Showbiz Cheat Sheet notes, Amy Slaton has already reached her weight loss goals, whereas sister Tammy has continued to gain weight, even after serious health complications. She was placed on life support after doctor's discovered a blood clot in her legs, according to Screen Rant, but the complication did not motivate her to make healthier lifestyle changes.
Given the sisters' opposite journeys, it is likely that TLC will struggle to come up with new storylines for the fourth season. Fans of the show have already complained that the current season of the show has made them lose interest. "I'd like to see it keep going, because I love garbage entertainment, but it's getting to a point that unless Tammy decides to do something with her life this season, there's not much more story to tell," one fan wrote in a Reddit thread inquiring about a fourth season. Another fan, however, hasn't lost hope, writing, "I don't think that stuff is decided until the current season airs [and] they see how many views they get."
If the show does get renewed, it'll likely premiere in late winter 2022, as has been the case with previous seasons.
Which cast members will be featured on 1000-lb Sisters Season 4?
If TLC renews "1000-lb. Sisters" for a fourth season, it is highly likely that Amy and Tammy Slaton will return to the show, given the fact that they are the stars and have chronicled their journeys for the past few seasons. Though both sisters were morbidly obese at the beginning of the show, they have had completely different experiences with their weight loss. Within the first two seasons, Amy qualified for weight loss surgery and reached her weight loss goal because she wanted to start a family with her husband, Michael Halterman, according to Screen Rant. She gave birth to her first child, Gage, in November 2020, per Monsters and Critics. Amy announced she's expecting her second child in 2022 and her pregnancy would most likely be featured in Season 4.
Tammy, on the other hand, may have difficulty retaining her screen time. While she went to rehab to try and lose the weight in this current season, she ended up coming out of the facility 15 pounds heavier, according to Distractify. Her inability to lose weight has led many to wonder if she'll ever reach her goal of getting bariatric surgery, per People.
Besides the sisters, their mother, Darlene Rednour, has been featured on the show before, and could make more appearances in Season 4, even though her appearances have not been well-received because of how discouraging she has been to both Amy and Tammy (per Screen Rant).
Tammy Slaton has moved on from her ex-boyfriend
Though Tammy Slaton might see her weight loss journey be of lesser focus on Season 4 of "1000-lb. Sisters," she might have a backup storyline that relates to her new lover. Tammy broke up with her ex-boyfriend Phillip in the current season of the show, per Showbiz Cheat Sheet. Phillip was a controversial figure because he appeared to have a fetish with morbidly obese women, which angered Tammy's sister, Amy. "I'm trying to motivate Tammy, because I do have my worries about Phillip, the new boyfriend," Amy said on the show. "He loves big women, but she needs to lose this weight." As it turns out, Amy didn't need to worry too much because Tammy broke it off with Phillip quite quickly.
"We broke up," Tammy told Amy. "I guess you could say I did it, cause I was tired of fighting with him and he said my insecurities were my problem. And, like, at the beginning of the relationship I told him, I was like, can you promise you'll help me through my insecurities. He said it got to be too much."
After their breakup was announced, Tammy posted a picture of a mystery man kissing her on her cheeks on Instagram, which caused fans to speculate if she's in a new relationship. Perhaps the answer will be revealed in Season 4.
