Inside The Lavish Lives Of Mariah Carey's Dogs
Mariah Carey has long been a glamor icon. With Celebrity Net Worth estimating Carey's worth at $320 million, she has definitely earned a lap of luxury. Certainly, Carey never fails to travel in style. In addition to flying privately, Carey — on the rare occasion she does fly commercial — reportedly bought a $130,000 one-way ticket from New York to Europe to enjoy the privacy of an empty first-class cabin, per HuffPost. "Let's hope she doesn't demand that British Airways lays out fluffy carpets for her, kits out the upper deck with puppies and paints the interiors cream," an insider told The Sun at the time, per HuffPost. Additionally, Carey owns a 16-crew yacht aptly named "Capri" which, per Time, houses two bars, a Jacuzzi, a gym, a library, and a private chef.
Carey also dresses as self-admittedly extra as she can, and in the most fabulous way possible. When she gave Vogue a tour of her expansive walk-in closet in and color-coordinated shoe collection, even she was taken aback by her own opulence. Carrying a monogrammed champagne flute (because, naturally), Carey said, "I can't even believe these are my shoes," confessing she simply is "not as casual as most people."
We wouldn't have it any other way. Often seen with at least one Jack Russell terrier by her side over the years, how much of the MC luxury treatment has been extended to Carey's beloved pooches?
Mariah Carey spends over half a million a year on her dogs
Mariah Carey has, at one time, owned eight Jack Russell terriers simultaneously — and what lucky Jack Russells they were. Cha Cha, Jackie Lambchops, JJ, Jill E Beans, Squeak E Beans, The Good Reverend Pow Jackson, Pippitty L Jackson, and Mutley P Gore Jackson the Third comprised the Carey canine family in 2016, per the Daily Mail. Carey pampered the pups with weekly spa treatments in Beverly Hills, their own chauffeur, and travels alongside Carey in her private jet to avoid pesky airline restrictions. At the time, the Mail estimated the eight pooches' annual cost to be a whopping $676,692.50.
Carey often takes her dogs on vacation with her, like her 2017 getaway to wine country in Napa Valley, per Page Six. Other times, she has decided her canines needed their own vacation away from humans. In 2017, she spent $25,000 to send her Jack Russells to Paw Seasons, a luxury dog hotel in Bristol, England, according to Heat (via InTouch). "They'll be washed, groomed, taken on day trips, sleep in their own hotel beds and the chef will cook them personalized meals, according to the menu plan Mariah's sending over," an insider informed the magazine. As for travel accommodations, Carey reportedly spent $175,000 on a private jet so her dogs can spend their trans-Atlantic flight in peace and quiet. But for as much as she spends on services for them, the singer also spends plenty of her own time with her pups.
For Mariah Carey, her dogs are fam
In a festive Christmastime 2021 Instagram video, Mariah Carey gave fans a glimpse of just how close her Jack Russell terriers are with the rest of her brood. In a well-rehearsed rendition, Carey — poured into a slinky red dress in front of a Christmas tree at home — began singing her famous hook, "All I want for Christmas is ..." before her twins, Moroccan and Monroe Cannon, joined in synchronicity, belting out the final word, "You!" The two terriers seemed to know this point in the song was their time to shine, adorably howling out the final note with Carey's kids.
Carey has relied on her dogs during and after her pregnancy with Moroccan and Monroe. In March 2011, to help ready for the feeling of motherhood, a pregnant Carey spent plenty of time snuggling with the two newborn pups her dog Cha Cha had just birthed, reports People. "How could I not be obsessed with them?" Carey tweeted, per the outlet. Her terriers were also instrumental in her post-pregnancy journey. After giving birth to #dembabies in April 2011, Carey walked her dogs to manage her baby weight. "Jogging puppystyle!" she wrote on Twitter alongside a photo of herself tied up in all directions by terriers and their leashes. Her dog Jill E Beans even kept her company while doing laps in the pool in August 2011, as Carey tweeted with a one-word caption, "Sababa!" (loosely meaning "cool" in Hebrew, per People).
