The Truth About Bob Saget's Relationship With Candace Cameron Bure
Candace Cameron Bure is mourning the death of her "Full House" costar Bob Saget. After TMZ broke the news that Saget died at age 65 on January 9 at the Ritz-Carlton while on tour in Orlando, Bure was among Saget's "Full House" cast mates to react with a heartbreaking message. "I don't know what to say," Bure wrote on Twitter of her TV dad. "I have no words. Bob was one of the best humans beings I've ever known in my life. I loved him so much." Bure later memorialized her decades-long friendship with Saget on Instagram, writing, "I love you sooooo much," adding, "I don't want to say goodbye." Bure, who is now a mother of three, joined "Full House" with Saget at age 11 in 1987 for eight seasons. Though they kept up their relationship for several years, Bure admitted, "35 years wasn't long enough."
While Saget moved on from "Full House" after the final season in 1995 to have a robust stand-up comedy and acting career, his friendships with his onscreen family members stood the test of time, and Bure clearly was no exception.
Bob Saget supported Candace Cameron Bure long after "Full House" ended
Candace Cameron Bure lost a dear friend in Bob Saget. After growing up with Saget as her onscreen dad, Bure had Saget's support in her adult life. Bure revealed to Us Weekly in 2020 that the "Fuller House" cast remained close friends and had a group chat. "We talk almost every day, and we have several group chats that are going. Sometimes the texts are endless," she said. "I'll walk away from my phone and come back to 45 texts and they're usually all from Bob Saget."
Saget knew his onscreen daughter well. The comedian came to Bure's defense in April 2021 when the Hallmark star appeared as a guest on his podcast, "Bob Saget's Here For You." When discussing the backlash Bure had received for appearing fake to some of her social media followers, Saget praised his co-star. "You're the opposite of fake," Saget said, per People. "And I'm sorry — you're perky sometimes. What's wrong with being perky?" Bure knew Saget could vouch for her true self the best, saying, "Let someone speak into this that's known me since I was 9 years old."
Saget had rooted for Bure throughout the years. When Bure, who is married to hockey player Valeri Bure, received backlash in 2020 for posting a photo of her husband with a hand on her chest, Saget brought his signature sense of humor to her defense. "Love you guys and congrats on second base!!!" he joked, per ET Canada.
