Say Yes To The Dress Season 21 Release Date, Cast, And More Information
Will TLC say "yes" to another season of "Say Yes to the Dress"? We have all the details behind a possible Season 21 after the iconic series faced possibly their toughest bridezilla yet ... Covid-19.
"Say Yes to the Dress" began as the behind-the-scenes process that goes on at Kleinfeld in New York City, as women travel from across the country for a chance to "say yes" to one dress for their big day. The show quickly grew in popularity, with nearly 2 million viewers, according to The Atlantic, and multiple spinoffs in the United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and the latest to join the reality show franchise, India, per APN News. Bringing joy to viewers since 2007, the reality series returned in July 2021 with their 20th season, which in large part featured virtual appointments and fewer brides in the showroom in an effort to shop safely during the pandemic.
"Our daily routine now [is] logging into meetings and doing appointments virtually," said host of the show, Randy Fenoli, upon the premiere of their 20th season. The reality star went on to say even the dresses have to go through sanitations. "I was a little concerned at first that it wouldn't feel like I was present for the appointment," Fenoli told KTLA about the new "Say Yes" process. "[But] I have to say "Say Yes to the Dress" is back and weddings are back." Even if the weddings are back, will "Say Yes to the Dress" be back again in 2022?
When will Say Yes to the Dress release Season 21?
After 19 seasons of "Say Yes to the Dress," the popular wedding reality TV series decided to bring "a new virtual era in the Kleinfeld experience," mixing the beloved show with modern restrictions due to the pandemic in Season 20. "This season, the brides arrive with a renewed energy and fresh set of challenges like a blind bride trying to find her perfect silhouette, a throuple with two brides sharing a budget, and a virtual bride having second thoughts on her pandemic purchase," TLC said of the latest season to air on the network (via Pop Culture). Season 20 aired in the summer of 2021, leaving fans wondering if filming for Season 21 may have already begun.
The network's statement continued, "some familiar challenges like last minute shopping, over-the-top requests, outspoken entourages and one very picky former dance mom still test the team. And in a special episode, Randy Fenoli's former on-set assistant gives us a peek behind the curtain as she searches for her own wedding dress." While Season 20's surprises and obstacles made for an even more entertaining "Say Yes to the Dress," TLC has yet to greenlight Season 21, leaving fans in the dark about a possible release date.
The show's most dedicated viewers have nothing to fear just yet, as the reality series has released one season per year since the start of the pandemic, leaving 2022 a possibility.
Who will return to Say Yes to the Dress?
If there is one thing to look forward to when it comes to a possible Season 21 of "Say Yes to the Dress," it's the return of Randy Fenoli, the host and star fashion designer of NYC's Kleinfeld.
The reality star is known for never holding back when it comes to helping a bride big the one gown she'll cherish the rest of her life. The star explained to Good Housekeeping that an appointment with him could go from eight to 10 hours long, especially if the bride is on camera. "It's twice as long as a regular appointment time and it's just because before she [the bride] can walk out, all the cameras need to get in place, so we get all the angles and everything," Fenoli revealed to the outlet, adding that chit-chat with his assistants away from the bride are strictly for the cameras.
One clue that "Say Yes to the Dress" will welcome more brides in 2022 to be featured on the reality series is the application still being available online. While Season 20 capitalized off the pandemic, gifting an essential worker an experience of a lifetime, Season 21 looks to be open to every woman dreaming of their day at Kleinfeld.
The real reason Randy Fenoli walked out on one client
So, what is it about "Say Yes to the Dress" that keeps viewers coming back 20 seasons later? All the bridezilla drama ... or in some cases the mom-zilla drama. Bridal consultant and star of the TLC series Randy Fenoli opened up to Insider about the one appointment where a mother's comments got so under his skin, he walked out. "There was a mother that was absolutely just mocking her daughter and laughing at her and humiliating her," the TV star said. "I had to walk out of the appointment. I was so disgusted."
In the episode, a bride named Samantha became visibly upset when her mother got a little too real about her dress choice. "You have somebody like myself who has never had the honor to have children and the privilege to be able to raise a child, but you have had that and this is the way you treat them," Fenoli continued. The bridal consultant went on to share how he often has "to defend the bride" from her family and friends, telling them"if you guys don't get on board, I'm going to kick you overboard."
What makes Fenoli one of the best in the business is his ability to help brides "feel beautiful" on their wedding day. "It's about the confidence that you have while wearing the dress," he said.
