Gwyneth Paltrow May Focus On Goop Over Acting
Gwyneth Paltrow has continued to hint that her acting career has taken backseat to her often-mocked lifestyle brand Goop.
"I'm still going to do a little bit here and there, but this really requires almost all of my time," Paltrow revealed on the Today show (via People) on Thursday, June 15, 2017. "I'm in the office all day, every day. I have a pretty big team — we're almost 85 people — so I kind of need to be at work."
"It's just one of those things," she continued. "I was so lucky: I had an incredible acting career, but I had this deep passion to produce content and make great products and curate things. It sort of evolved slowly and had a long gestational period and now it's like, a real business."
The admission echoed similar remarks she gave recently to Extra. "'I'm not sure how I'll feel about acting going forward. I'm doing just a teensy little bit here and there when I have time, but I am loving running my business," she said (via the Daily Mail).
Incidentally, Paltrow, whose acting career has stalled in recent years, offered a different tune last July, admitting at the 2016 Sage Summit in Chicago that she was planning to separate her name from the brand.
"In order to build the brand I want to build, its scalability is limited if I connect to it," she said at the time (via The Guardian). "So I always think: 'How can I grow the brand? How can I separate myself from the brand?' and I think its going to be more its own brand."
"My dream is that one day no one will remember that I had anything to do with it," she continued.
Paltrow launched Goop in 2008 as an online newsletter. It's since been mocked endlessly over the years for its out-of-touch advice and ridiculously overpriced items. Even Paltrow poked fun at the site on a recent episode of Jimmy Kimmel, admitting, "I don't know what the f*** we talk about."
Good luck!
