The Truth Behind Tamera Mowry's Departure From The Real
Tamera Mowry, you know her. The iconic '90s actor first became a household name when she and her twin sister, Tia Mowry, portrayed the lead roles in their legendary sitcom "Sister, Sister," and she has continued to be a familiar face on television. As noted on her IMDb page, Tamera became a co-host on the talk show "The Real" alongside Adrienne Bailon, Jeannie Mai, Loni Love, and Tamar Braxton in 2013. The "Twitches" actor remained a presenter on the show for seven years before announcing she would be parting ways with her fellow co-hosts in July 2020.
During an interview with Entertainment Tonight that same year, Tamera explained that she had nothing but love for the remaining panelists. "The girls will always be a part of my family," she told Deidre Behar, adding, "I may not be physically in front of the camera, [but] we will be a family forever. It's weird to say, but I feel like I'm still there ... I still talk to the girls. I support the girls still, individually. I do it individually because they're all doing their own thing."
Five months after leaving "The Real," Tamera returned for an episode in December 2020 and has since gone on to present on other jobs such as "Bakers Dozen" and "Table Wars." Over a year later, Tamera has revealed the real reason she decided to say goodbye to the show. Keep reading to find out why.
Tamera Mowry's kids had a lot to do with her exit
After Tamera Mowry's exit from "The Real," headlines suggested one of the reasons she left the talk show was because she was feuding with the producers. During an exclusive chat with Distractify, the "Something to Sing About" actor put the rumors to rest and stated it had a lot to do with her children. "I loved being with my family. And doing a talk show, especially living in two different places, I would have to travel twice a week." She continued, "My kids are at the age right now where I feel like they need me present."
Other headlines implied that Tamera's departure was due to money. While talking to the same outlet, she set the record straight about that assumption as well as expressing how difficult it was to say goodbye to the show. "It was hard. I'm not gonna lie, because, you know, leaving something familiar and going into the unknown — it was probably one of the scariest decisions I ever had to make," she explained, adding, "I know there were rumors about money. Actually, they were paying me more than I wanted to stay. So I even had to say no to money. So it was not a money move — it was a passion move."
Tamera appears to be enjoying the new chapter in her life and recently shared a snapshot to Instagram of herself posing with her husband, Adam Housley, and two children, Ariah Talea Housley and Aden Housley, while pumpkin picking.
