The Real Meaning Behind No Love By Summer Walker & SZA
Summer Walker's long-anticipated second album is finally here. Titled "Still Over It," the project was released on November 5 and serves as a follow-up to her 2019 critically acclaimed debut album, "Over It." Unlike her previous effort, however, Summer opens up about her failed relationship with producer London on da Track, who largely worked on "Over It."
The two former collaborators had a messy on-and-off relationship from 2019 until 2021, ending as Summer was expecting their first child together (via Capital Xtra). Taking to Instagram the night of the "Still Over It" release, the R&B singer said the album is meant to be a warning to her fans when it comes to relationships. "Take this opportunity to learn from my mistakes," Summer wrote. "You don't have to guess if something is love. Love is showed through actions. Stop making excuses for people who don't show up for you."
Summer's second studio album includes exciting tracks such as "Ex For A Reason," "Toxic," "Unloyal," and "Bitter," as well as guest appearances from Cardi B, Ari Lennox, JT from City Girls, Ciara, and more. One particular song called "No Love" featuring SZA, however, seems to be a fan-favorite so far.
There's 'no love' for Summer Walker and SZA's exes
On "No Love," Summer Walker continues to call out her ex, London on da Track, complaining that he didn't treat her right during their relationship. "You didn't yet see my worth so you try to play me," she sings in the first verse (via Genius). "But I was so in love, love / That I just got a little bit too complicated." Still, she adds that if they ever get back together, there would be no love involved.
"But if I had you back, all I wanna do is f*** / Get drunk, take drugs," she continues in the chorus. "All lust, there will be no lovin' you / It would be no lovin' you." SZA, who features on the second verse, seems to agree. "No more feelings involved, I done seen all I need to," she sings. "You the one that ruined us, can't give no, can't give no (f***)."
Rumors of a Summer x SZA joint track first surfaced in June, when the two were spotted in the studio together. So, naturally, fans were excited to finally hear it once Summer's "Still Over It" dropped — and they love it. "No Love is great," one person tweeted. "I'm glad we finally got that Summer and SZA collab." "Summer Walker & SZA, a perfect duo," another fan added. "No Love >>>." Overall, fans seem to be obsessed with Summer's new album.
