Motel Makeover Season 2 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far

Move over Chip and Joanna Gaines! There's a new renovation show making its rounds on the reality TV circuit. Enter: "Motel Makeover"!

Netflix's "Motel Makeover" first burst onto the scene in July. While many were still at home for the most part, desperately trying to figure out what "Shot Girl Summer" really entailed amidst the ongoing coronavirus pandemic, Canadian friends-turned-business-partners April Brown and Sarah Sklash were infiltrating television screens everywhere. They did so by documenting the ups and downs of buying the fixer-upper of all fixer-uppers — a weathered motel in the touristy Canadian beach town of Sauble Beach, aptly titled The June Motel. Let the hijinks and hilarity ensue!

Fortunately, the six-episode Season 1 enjoyed tons of success, quickly garnering a strong fan base for itself. So what's in store for the future of "Motel Makeover," and when can fans of the show expect a Season 2? Here is everything we know about this binge-worthy renovation hit.

When will Season 2 of Motel Makeover drop?

Don't quit your day job in pursuit of binge-watching Season 2 of "Motel Makeover" quite yet. As reported by The Cinemaholic, there is still no word on when or even if there will be a Season 2 of the series. Still, cameras or no cameras, we think it's pretty safe to say that the show's self-professed "moteliers" April Brown and Sarah Sklash have no intentions of slowing down anytime soon.

When asked about future plans, April revealed that the crew will embark on a trip to Miami in an effort to scope out potential new locations. "We actually call them 'inspo trips,'" April told The Washington Post. "And it's one of our favorite things to do to refuel and see new things and what other hotels are doing, both from a design perspective but also a service perspective," she explained. "We really still need to make it to Austin and go to all of the Bunkhouse motel properties, which are high on our list of sources of inspiration over the years."

Miami? Austin? The world is April and Sarah's oyster and there's no doubt they are just getting started! Netflix would be smart to capitalize on their foray into motel makeover domination.

What will the cast of Motel Makeover Season 2 look like?

In the event that a Season 2 of "Motel Makeover" does come to fruition, viewers can definitely expect to see the show's budding designers April Brown and Sarah Sklash front and center!

During their interview with The Washington Post, the DIY duo explained that though their project with Netflix was the first to include a camera crew, it was most certainly not their first rodeo. "Our first motel was 16 rooms and a tiny lobby bar. But in Sauble Beach, it was 24 rooms, a pool — which we had never done before — there was a lobby shop building, a big indoor-outdoor restaurant, which we'd also never done before. We had our work cut out for us," April explained.

She added, "Then you layer on filming a TV show on top of that; then layer on covid, which hit when our rooms were gutted in March 2020. It was really scary. There was no turning back." Still, even a global pandemic could not deter them, and fans definitely want more of these two. Who knows who else would show up, but it's safe to say the core crew will be back.

Is there really a future in motel makeovers?

While it's no doubt that April Brown and Sarah Sklash have carved out a very specific niche for their business, many can't help but wonder if there's a solid future in what they've created.

When asked about what stage they believed the motel makeover boom was in, both April and Sarah were adamant that the craze was just getting started. "In the last year, due to covid, we see a lot more motels being renovated and transformed," Sarah explained to The Washington Post. "I certainly think the pandemic has sparked this 'Oh, motels make a lot of sense.' You don't have to go into lobbies and elevators; you can just drive right up to your door." She added, "It's really cool because these are really, for the most part, dated, forgotten buildings that deserve to be revived."

What's more, Sarah said she believed the boon may also have something to do with a "generational shift" as well. "I think a lot of [motels] have been family-operated for decades, and you're starting to see those people want to retire and sell. There's a lot of fresh energy." Here's to hoping a Season 2 of "Motel Makeover" is on the horizon soon!
