Everything We Know About The Weeknd's New Personal Album

The Weeknd is pretty unstoppable right now, and we're totally here for it. He's released three mixtapes and four studio albums since 2011, per AllMusic. The "Can't Feel My Face" hitmaker started off fairly low-key at the beginning of his career and has since morphed into a global superstar with many accolades to his name. On the US Hot 100, The Weeknd has achieved six chart-topping singles and four consecutive No. 1 albums. And out of his 10 Grammy Award nominations, the Canadian-born musician has taken home three golden trophies.

According to Billboard, The Weeknd's most recent album, "After Hours," released in 2020, helped him become the second artist to have three No. 1 singles from three separate calendar years. The only other artist to share this accomplishment is music icon Janet Jackson. 2021 saw The Weeknd get the year off to a good start with a Super Bowl Halftime Show performance. On YouTube, his set has been watched more than 41 million times.

Since being on a creative roll, The Weeknd has dropped a new single, "Take My Breath," which is scheduled to be part of a new studio album. During a recent radio show, the singer opened up the inspiration behind the project.

The Weeknd is close to wrapping up the creative process

Fans will be happy to hear that The Weeknd's new studio album is expected to be out very soon. According to Music News, the "Save Your Tears" hitmaker stated on his Apple Music show, "Memento Mori," that he's pretty much done. Apparently, the "only thing missing is a couple of characters that are key to the narrative."

The Grammy Award-winner has also been absent from his weekly radio show, and he informed listeners as to why. "I felt like I let a lot of you down by not continuing the weekly episodes I promised, but a lot has been going down, a lot of moving pieces," he revealed (via Music News), adding, "I've been settling in a new home, been shooting videos, been working on pre-productions for another world, working on music for the pre-productions for the other world, taking time to myself so I don't completely lose my mind."

This isn't the first time The Weeknd has opened up about his new music. In a May interview with Variety, he gave fans a hint about what they can expect to hear. "If the last record is the after hours of the night," he teased, "then the dawn is coming." An in a GQ interview, he insisted the LP is "the album I've always wanted to make." We can't wait to hear it!
