Who Is Keshia Knight Pulliam's Husband, Brad James?
In late September, Keshia Knight Pulliam and Brad James tied the knot in an intimate at-home ceremony. "Last week my life forever changed," the former "The Cosby Show" star wrote on Instagram on October 2, sharing a few pictures from the wedding. "I married my best friend at our home surrounded by family & it was magical!!!"
The two had originally planned for a "large destination wedding," as she wrote, but opted for a more intimate function instead. "Maybe one day I will share the events that inspired our change of plans," she continued. "However, for now I can say God makes no mistakes & the joy is in the journey. Covid has definitely taught us to live in the moment and that the present is the greatest 'present' that exists."
She ended the post by thanking the attendees and, most importantly, the groom. "Most of all thank you to @mrbradjames my amazing husband, my person, my soulmate," Pulliam wrote. "Thank you for renewing my vulnerability & faith in unconditionally love #TheJamesBond." As expected, friends of the couple took the comment section to congratulate them. "A FAIRYTALE!!!! I'm so incredibly happy for you ALL!!!" one friend wrote. "I knew he was crushing on you friend!! God bless."
Who is Keshia Knight Pulliam's new husband, though? Let's find out below.
Brad James starred in this show
Brad James is mostly known for his role as Todd on the Tyler Perry sitcom "For Better or Worse." He also appeared on the Netflix series "Outer Banks" as well as UMC's "A House Divided." As both James and Keshia Knight Pulliam worked in Atlanta, Georgia, it was inevitable that the two would cross paths.
So, in 2019, the actors met on set, as they filmed for the Lifetime movie "Pride and Prejudice: Atlanta." And sparks flew. "Honestly we just hit it off," Pulliam told 9Mag TV. "We had a lot of downtime; there was a lot going on filming that project. So there were times where we would all be sitting in the cast seats or the van just talking." So, the two exchanged numbers, which eventually led to a whirlwind romance.
Things between the two went so well that James popped the question in December 2020. "I said Yes!! I LOVE YOU @mrbradjames!!!!" Pulliam shared on Instagram. "My desire is a lifetime and beyond filled with love & family." She continued, "My heart is so filled with joy!! So excited to continue to choose each other & our family every day." As previously mentioned, they later married in September. This isn't the first marriage for either of them, though. As People reported, James was previously married, and the ex-wife's identity is unknown. Pulliam, meanwhile, shares a daughter with ex-husband Ed Hartwell. Find out more about her first marriage below.
Keshia Knight Pulliam's split from her first husband was messy
Before settling down with Brad James, Keshia Knight Pulliam was married to ex-NFL player Edgerton "Ed" Hartwell. (As Bravo fans will recall, the latter is the ex-husband of Lisa Wu from "The Real Housewives of Atlanta.") Pulliam and Hartwell said their "I Do's" in January 2016, after just four months of dating. That same year, the former "Cosby Show" actor got pregnant ... but Hartwell admitted he wasn't ready.
"She wanted a baby really fast," the former Baltimore Ravens star told Page Six. "What I learned about her is that if she wants something, she wants it now and she's going to go get it," he continued. "That's one of the reasons we actually stopped having sex." TMI! Hartwell also claimed that his ex-wife "started going out with friends all the time and not telling [him] when she was coming home or sometimes not coming home at all."
Pulliam had some words for him, too. She accused her ex-husband of engaging in "cruel treatment" while she was pregnant, causing her to suffer complications (via TMZ). She also accused Hartwell of "plotting to harm and obstruct [her] pregnancy." So, once she gave birth to their daughter, Ella Grace, Pulliam never invited Hartwell to the hospital. "Ed basically found out at the same time as the rest of the world," a source told Page Six at the time. What a messy split. We're happy Pulliam has found love again!
