The Real Reason Molly And Luis From 90 Day Fiance Got Divorced
Season 5 of "90 Day Fiancé" introduced fans to Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez. The two had a whirlwind romance when Molly fell in love with Luis on vacation in the Dominican Republic, where Luis is from. Less than two months later, Luis proposed and the two began the K-1 visa process. He stayed in Georgia with Molly and her two daughters.
But when adjusting to life together as a couple, things got off to a rocky start for Molly and Luis. Molly's family was not fully convinced by their relationship or Luis himself. When Molly, Luis, and the family met, Molly's dad said, "I've got a lot of concerns about this," before continuing saying, "I think you guys need to give it some time and figure out how this whole situation unfolds."
Certainly, the situation did unfold and maybe not in the way neither Molly nor Luis imagined. The two were married in July 2017 before quickly divorcing in 2018, per InTouch Weekly. So, what led their relationship to go south so quickly? Keep reading to find out.
Constant miscommunication was part of Molly and Luis' downfall
One of the biggest hurdles Molly Hopkins and Luis Mendez found that love couldn't conquer was communication — or lack thereof.
Right off the bat, Molly's family was an obstacle in their relationship. Not only was Molly's dad skeptical of her and Luis' love, but so were her kids. Molly's eldest daughter Olivia was not Luis' biggest fan. While Olivia wanted happiness for her mom, she didn't exactly care what Luis thought of her — and Luis sort of felt the same. This ended up all coming to a head for Molly and Luis.
Molly wanted Luis to step up to the plate and be a father figure for her two girls. When Luis was less than worried about it, Molly was upset over his actions. The pair ended up in a series of blowouts about parenting, even leading Luis to leave Molly's house in Georgia. The two then chronicled their split on "90 Day Fiancé: Happily Ever After," though their relationship was far from happy.
Where are Molly and Luis now?
While the two are no longer together, they seem to be happily separate. Less than six months after their divorce was finalized, Luis got remarried — this time choosing to keep his relationship mostly private. Luis gushed about his new wife to InTouch Weekly, saying, "The most amazing part was meeting her because she changed all life to happiness," he said before continuing, "I love this girl so much. She is so amazing."
And Molly has a new relationship, too. She joined the spinoff "90 Day Fiancé: The Single Life" but wasn't single for long. Molly introduced her new partner Kelly Brown to the franchise. Per InTouch Weekly, Kelly slid into Molly's DMs, and although she has received plenty of private messages from suitors, he made a distinct impression on her. And the two are still going strong today as Molly and Kelly both continuously post-romantic photos together on Instagram.
So to recap, both Molly and Luis seem to be going strong in their relationships. While it didn't work out for them, maybe we will see them separately on another "90 Day" spinoff!
