The Truth About Lisa Rinna And Erika Jayne's Friendship
Erika Jayne has had a rough year — as anyone who's been keeping up with "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills," or, like, the news, is well aware. There was the very public divorce from her ex-husband Tom Girardi, which on its own is enough to send any person spiraling. But she's also facing some tough questions from her acquaintances — and the legal authorities — about her possible involvement in Tom's (alleged) embezzlement and fraud schemes. We don't know anything about whether Erika is actually guilty or not, but we do know that she needs a friend, which is Lisa Rinna, apparently.
In the wake of the scandal, Erika appears to be losing friends left and right. On the show, most of her co-stars, while still cautiously kind to her face, appear to be losing their trust in their (former?) friend. That is, except for Lisa, who has been a pretty stalwart defender of Erika from the jump. Let's dig into that relationship, shall we?
Lisa Rinna has stood by Erika Jayne on the show
As "Real Housewives of Beverly Hills" viewers can attest, while the other women have questioned Erika Jayne, sometimes pretty sharply, about what she knew and didn't know about her ex-husband's alleged embezzlement schemes, Lisa Rinna has stuck by her side.
On one episode, while Dorit Kemsley, Sutton Stracke, and Kyle Richards were frustrated by questions they hadn't gotten answers to, Lisa spoke up for her friend. She pointed out that while everyone wants to hear Erika sympathize with her ex's (alleged) victims, Erika was probably counseled by her lawyers not to say anything that could potentially be viewed as an admission of guilt (via Vulture).
On an episode of "Watch What Happens Live," when Andy Cohen asked Lisa about Sutton wanting to meet up with the crew without Erika there, she said, "Well, to be honest with you, I didn't know that Erika wasn't going to be there when I was asked to come." And that's not the only time Lisa has shown up for Erika off the show as well as on ...
Lisa Rinna is still Erika Jayne's ride-or-die
On "Watch What Happens Live," Lisa Rinna said she talks to Erika Jayne "when Erika wants to talk," but without naming exactly how often the two are in touch. She did add that they had formed a close friendship over the years. In fact, if Page Six is to be believed, Lisa is the only friend Erika has left among the cast. "Lisa is the only friend left because this week's episode is hard for her to watch with some of the women making fun of her," an unnamed source told the outlet.
Whatever the opposite of a fair-weather friend is — that's the energy Lisa is giving right now. For example, there was the Instagram Story she posted, via People, where she lamented that a fight between Erika and a producer had been cut from the episode, which Erika then reposted, implying that Erika had been unfairly edited to look bad. What's more, Radar Online reported that Lisa is actually set to be deposed in connection with the investigation into Erika's finances. Apparently, the lawyer in charge of the investigation thinks it's fishy that Lisa has been so steadfast in defending Erika.
Sir, it's called ride-or-die for a reason, okay?
