Who Are Kayleigh McEnany's Parents?
Former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany became famous for her defense of former President Donald Trump. Therefore, it was not a surprise that McEnany joined conservative news channel Fox News in March. Harris Faulkner announced McEnany's arrival to the network on the air, saying, "It is my distinct pleasure today to welcome Kayleigh McEnany to the Fox family. We will be seeing much more of her in the future."
According to The New York Times, McEnany joined the Trump White House in April 2020 after working for CNN. McEnany was the fourth press secretary for Trump, replacing Stephanie Grisham, who never held a press conference during her tenure. While McEnany landed a new gig at Fox News, The Independent reported that some Trump White House staffers had trouble finding work. In April, Business Insider reported that many Trump staffers found a "job desert" after working for the 45th president. "If I had a dollar for every time someone in Washington said to me, 'Hey, I'm really looking to hire someone for X job, but they can't have worked for the Trump administration,' I'd have a great sum of money," a chairman of the American Conservative Union, Matt Schlapp, told the publication.
McEnany appears to be one of the lucky ones, but were her parents lucky, too? Keep reading to learn about the government assistance Michael and Leanne McEnany received during the pandemic.
Kayleigh McEnany's parents got a PPP loan that raised eyebrows
In July, The Daily Dot reported that former White House press secretary Kayleigh McEnany's parents received more than $1 million in Paycheck Protection Program (PPP) loans. The Daily Dot story was based on information from Small Business Administration data. Salon also reported that McEnany's parents, Michael and Leanne McEnany, received between $1 million and $2 million in PPP loans for their commercial roofing company, McEnany Roofing.
The fact that McEnany's parents received such a large government assistance loan did not jive with what the former press secretary said during a Fox News interview in April. At the time, McEnany told Fox News that PPP loans were meant to support companies with 10 or fewer employees. "The vast majority — as I noted, 1 million of the 1.6 million loans that went out — were companies with 10 or fewer employees. That is what this program is designed to do. That is who it is helping," McEnany said, per Salon. The Daily Dot reported that McEnany Roofing employs 141 people.
The Trump administration kept details about the $659 billion PPP program locked down. During a June 2020 Senate hearing, then-treasury secretary Steven Mnuchin said the Trump administration would not reveal the companies receiving PPP loans.
Kayleigh McEnany is very close to her parents
Kayleigh McEnany is close to her parents, Michael and Leanne McEnany, and lives close to them, as well. According to Heavy, the former press secretary, her husband Sean Gilmartin, and their daughter Blake, live less than two miles away from Michael and Leanne in Tampa. Outside of the international press surrounding their PPP loan, Michael and Leanne stay out of the spotlight.
Michael and Leanne raised three children in Florida. Kayleigh is their oldest child, followed by Michael McEnany and youngest daughter Ryann McEnany. Per Heavy, the couple founded McEnany Roofing in Tampa in 1985. The roofing business was successful and lists "many Central Florida Theme Parks and Resorts" on the McEnany Roofing website.
Kayleigh's parents are a huge source of support as she juggles marriage, work, and motherhood. Fortunately, her parents have always been there for her in difficult times. The former press secretary revealed in a Fox News column in 2018 that she tested positive for a genetic mutation and that she would undergo a double mastectomy, just like her mother did. The Fox News anchor said her father gave her important advice during the time: "Kayleigh, you know your weakness. We all have one in life, but you know yours. You know your weakness, and you can attack it head on," he said.
Who are Michael and Leanne McEnany's two other children?
Michael and Leanne McEnany seem to be very proud of their daughter, Kayleigh McEnany, who went from Trump White House press secretary to an on-air personality at Fox News. But who are Michael and Leanne's younger children, son Michael McEnany and daughter Ryann McEnany?
It appears Ryann is following in her big sister Kayleigh's footsteps. According to Heavy, Ryann put her plans to enter sports management on the back burner in 2018 to try out the political waters. Ryann worked for the RNC in 2018, then joined the Trump campaign as a social media coordinator in February 2019. When Kayleigh joined Fox News, Ryann tweeted, "The BEST sister in the world @kayleighmcenany is joining the Fox News family!! You're such a strong voice for the America First movement & for millions of people throughout this country [American flag emoji] I'm such a proud sister!! "
Kayleigh's brother Michael, on the other hand, became a doctor. Michael went to Wakeforest University for college and medical school. At Michael's medical school graduation, Kayleigh posted a family photo, saying, "My brother is officially DOCTOR Michael McEnany!! What a huge accomplishment!" We think it's safe to say that Michael and Leanne are likely proud of all of their kids.
