How Tall Is Jojo Siwa?
Although JoJo Siwa got her start performing on "Dance Moms," the 18-year-old has skyrocketed to mainstream fame thanks to her bubbly personality and large scale children's content releases. She's done everything, including several Nickelodeon shows and having her face grace magazine covers. Now, Siwa has made history as the first competitor on season 30 of "Dancing with the Stars" to perform in a same-sex duo. Even with Siwa's wide-ranging career achievements, the professional singer-dancer has one thing that fans immediately notice: her height.
Siwa has several iconic elements of her appearance that have gained notoriety over the years, from her traditional ponytail to affinity for dance bows, but her height is also discussed just as often. According to PopBuzz, during the summer of 2018, users took to Twitter to point out which fellow celebrities share Siwa's size, including Brendon Urie and Justin Bieber, surprising many unaware fans. She eventually addressed it in a video titled "THE TRUTH ON WHY I'M SO TALL...." which has only increased discussion. So how tall is JoJo Siwa really? Here's what you need to know.
JoJo Siwa doesn't know why she's so tall
As "Dance Moms" alum JoJo Siwa competes for the mirrorball trophy on "Dancing with the Stars" for the first time, those unaware of her energetic presence were also in the dark about how tall she was. According to a Q&A video that Siwa uploaded to YouTube in 2018, she has stated her height is "5' 8.5" or 5' 9.".
"I have literally seen so many tweets about why I'm so tall," she said in a separate video, solely dedicated to addressing her tallness. "I don't know, maybe I've just been tall my whole life so it doesn't phase me, but it phases some of you guys!" Despite Siwa's size being noticeable for her age, and partially clashing with her childlike aesthetic, she hasn't let the discussion about it bother her. "Honestly, I laugh at it," she said at another point in the video. "I just focus on the nice people, not on the negative people."
JoJo Siwa has stayed true to her real self
Jojo Siwa's height isn't the only thing that the star has been frank but friendly about — she's also spoken plainly about other misconceptions people may have about her. In a September interview with "The Today Show", Siwa opened up about what people think about ahead of her appearing on "Dancing with the Stars" and people that question what kind of "Star" she is. "I think that it depends on who I'm telling what I do," Siwa said. "Sometimes it's easy to tell people that I work for Nickelodeon, sometimes it's easy to tell people that I do YouTube, sometimes it's easier to tell people that I have a book that's a New York Times bestseller, you know that just relates to them more. And so it's just about who I'm telling what I do, and then I just shorten the list by telling what I don't do."
Siwa also opened up about critics who question her authenticity. "I think a lot of people think that JoJo is a character, and somebody today actually asked me if I was ever gonna put my character to rest," she continued. "I was like, I mean, she's been to rest because she doesn't exist. But I think that a lot of people think that it's not true." It sounds like Siwa is taking her own advice, blocking out the negative, and focusing on the nice.
