Southern Charm New Orleans Season 3 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far
If you're a fan of Bravo then you're likely already a fan of "Southern Charm," one of the network's most popular shows. "Charm" follows the romances and falling out of a group of upper-class Charleston hotties as they drink and fight around the historic city. It's basically "Real Housewives," but men get to be in the official cast.
"Southern Charm," which is on its seventh season, was so successful that it spawned a spinoff (as all good Bravo shows do): "Southern Charm New Orleans." "SCNO" follows the same formula as "Southern Charm," the only difference being that it's set in a new city with a new cast. While it's basically impossible to replace someone as divisive as Kathryn Dennis, fans grew to love the likes of Jon Moody, Tamica Lee, Reagan Charleston, and the rest.
Sadly, it's been nearly two years since Bravo released an episode of "Southern Charm New Orleans," and it's got us wondering exactly what is going on in the Big Easy. Read on below as we break down everything we know about Season 3 of Southern Charm New Orleans.
When will Season 3 air?
First things first, when can we expect to be graced with another season of "Southern Charm New Orleans"? Sadly, the news isn't all good. Right now there's no word from Bravo about whether or not they've actually decided to renew "Southern Charm New Orleans". Before you freak out, though, silence on the part of the producers doesn't necessarily mean they won't eventually renew the show. After all, 2020 and the first half of 2021 were not the easiest of environments in which to film a show that's primarily about going out and getting drunk and fighting at over-the-top house parties. COVID restrictions likely made filming difficult, so it's easy to see why renewing "Southern Charm New Orleans" might have taken a back seat at Bravo.
Even if "SCNO" hasn't been renewed, we can make some guesses about when it might air if it is. The first two seasons of the show ran for about three months, and it took about as long to film and then likely an additional few months to edit. So, even if "Southern Charm New Orleans" was renewed tomorrow, we wouldn't see any new episodes until the summer of 2022 at the earliest.
Who can we expect in the cast?
If "Southern Charm New Orleans" gets the green light for a new season, who can we hope to see in the cast? That question is tricky, considering that it's been a little over two years since that finale of Season 2 aired in 2019. Needless to say, a lot has likely changed for the cast in that time, and some of them may not want to return. In case you need a refresher, the leading cast of Season 2 included Reagan Charleston (the one-time wife of pro football player Jeff Charleston), along with Tamica Lee and her husband Barry Smith, Justin Reese, and Jon Moody.
It's likely that since some of the old cast might not be interested in returning to "SCNO" after a few years, the producers are going to have to hunt high and low for additional talent. While we can't say who they might find organically, there's always the chance that they might pull some of the secondary cast (Bravo calls them "friends of") up to the big leagues. That means we might see more of Rachel McKenzie, Kelsey Nichols, or Reece Thomas (Reagan's new husband).
What storylines will Season 3 cover?
As you've likely gathered by now, when it comes to Season 3 of "Southern Charm New Orleans," it's not very easy to make any predictions given that it hasn't been greenlit yet, and we have no idea who is in the cast.
So, assuming that the cast from last season returns, what storylines might we see in the new season? One major plot point would likely be Reagan Charleston's continuing journey into motherhood. On August 24, Reagan and her husband Reece Thomas welcomed their second child, a little boy named Rexford Vance Thomas. They announced the birth via Instagram. "We are head over heels in love with our big, beautiful baby boy Rex," the proud parents wrote. "Thank you for all of the warm wishes, from the bottoms of our hearts."
As for other series stars like Tamica Lee and Jon Moody, not too much has changed. Tamica is still hard at work as a local news anchor, and Jon is still painting and posting lots of shirtless pics. Long story short, if Season 3 does get the green light, we can expect more of the same from the cast... and really, what more could we want?
