Everything We Know About The Fugees Comeback

To achieve legendary status, sometimes all it takes is one album. After the Fugees released their debut album, "Blunted On Reality," in 1994, they went on to release one more studio album that catapulted them to superstardom. Titled "The Score," the LP introduced the Fugees — made up of Ms. Lauryn Hill, Wyclef Jean, and Pras Michel — to audiences all around the world and became household names. Released in 1996, the record topped the US Billboard 200 and has been certified 7x platinum by RIAA after selling more than 7 million copies in the U.S. alone.

Along with its global singles — "Ready or Not," "Fu-Gee-La," and "Killing Me Softly With His Song" — the Fugees took home two golden trophies at the 39th Annual Grammy Awards. After a successful run, the group parted ways and each member pursued a solo career. Hill went on to release her only studio album to date — "The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill" — and won a Grammy Award for Album of the Year. As of this writing, Jean has released nine studio albums and has collaborated with the likes of Shakira and Mary J. Blige while Michel dropped two solo projects. His notable single, "Ghetto Superstar" featured deceased rapper ODB and R&B Mya.

In 2003, the Fugees returned for a short-lived reunion and released a "Greatest Hits" compilation. For the first time in 15 years, however, they appear to be giving fans what they want. Keep reading to find out more!

The Fugees' world tour imminent

According to AllHipHop, Pras Michel said in 2007 that there was "a better chance of seeing Osama Bin Laden and [former President George W.] Bush in Starbucks having a latte, discussing foreign policies," than him working with Ms. Lauryn Hill again. Oof. With that being said, Michel, Hill, and Wyclef Jean have announced that indeed, they will be embarking on their first tour in 15 years to honor the 25th anniversary of their icon album "The Score."

"The Fugees have a complex but impactful history.... I decided to honor this significant project, its anniversary, and the fans who appreciated the music by creating a peaceful platform where we could unite, perform the music we loved, and set an example of reconciliation for the world," Hill said in a press release, per Pitchfork. "As I celebrate 25 years with the Fugees, my first memory was that we vowed, from the gate, we would not just do music we would be a movement," Jean continued, adding, "We would be a voice for the un-heard, and in these challenging times, I am grateful once again, that God has brought us together."

The Fugees' tour is imminent. As reported by Pitchfork, the trio will perform in New York on September 22 and will go around North America in November. In December, they plan to visit France, London, Nigeria, and Ghana. This is one ticket not to miss out on — and a pretty awesome moment.
