What's Going On With Bear And Raiven From Alaskan Bush People?
It's been a tumultuous year for "Alaskan Bush People" star Bear Brown, the energetic "wolf pack" member who loves living life to the extreme. His father Billy Brown died in February after suffering a seizure, so Bear was mourning the loss when his son River celebrated his first birthday a month later. Bear's relationship with the mother of his child, Raiven Adams, hasn't made 2021 any easier for him. The couple has split up and rekindled their romance more times than Bear has shimmied up a tree (okay, that's a slight exaggeration), making fans uncertain where they stand today.
In 2018, Raiven met Bear at his brother Noah Brown's wedding. Her mother is a professional photographer who was capturing special moments from the happy occasion on film, and Raiven was there assisting her. Raiven and Bear must have got swept up in the atmosphere of love and joy, because they were engaged one year later. "She is truly the full package. She is beauty in every sense of the word, inside and out," Bear told People after he popped the question in August 2019.
But just two weeks later, Raiven announced they had split up in an Instagram post. As reported by Pop Culture, she revealed that the negative treatment she was receiving online played into her decision to call things off. Just one day after the breakup announcement, Raiven and Bear shared the shocking news that they were expecting their first child.
Where do Raiven and Bear stand today?
During Season 12 of "Alaskan Bush People," Bear Brown headed out into the wilderness alone to reconnect with nature and recover from everything he was going through with Raiven Adams. He also had to mentally prepare for his new role as a father. He didn't get to see his son until September 2020, six months after little River was born. Bear and Raiven decided to give their relationship another chance when the father-son meeting forced them to cross paths, even though Raiven had filed a domestic violence protective order against Bear that February (via The Blast). She dropped it not long before River was born.
By April 2021, Raiven was swearing that she and Bear were done for good. "I have closed this chapter in my life and have put my focus to providing a happy home," she wrote on Instagram, per The Sun. But perhaps fans will finally get to see Bear, Raiven, and River as a happy family on future episodes of "Alaskan Bush People." In August, Raiven took to Instagram to reveal she and Bear rekindled their romance yet again. "Even after having a toxic relationship and separating from my ex, we managed to work out our issues and now are living happily as a family," she wrote. We're celebrating the good news with one of Bear's favorite delicacies: a packet of hot chocolate mix dumped on a handful of snow.
Did Billy Brown get to meet his grandson River?
Since Bear Brown missed out on being a part of the first half-year of his son's life and has struggled to maintain a stable relationship with River's mother, this likely made some "Alaskan Bush People" fans worry that Billy Brown didn't get an opportunity to spend time with his youngest grandson before his tragic death in February.
However, as reported by People, Bear quelled these fears in a tribute to his late father. "I'm glad my Dad got to meet my son, his grandson," he wrote on Instagram. "I will always remember the twinkle in his eyes when he held him! Hold tight to your loved ones! You never know when it's the last moment you'll get with them." Near the end of August, Bear paid tribute to his mother Ami on her birthday by sharing a photo of her holding her grandson (per Monsters and Critics). Raiven was standing beside Billy's widow and smiling.
The Brown family has decided to dedicate Season 13 of "Alaskan Bush People" to their beloved patriarch. In the trailer, Gabe Brown can be heard calling 9-1-1 and asking for an ambulance. The Browns later mourn Billy during his funeral and talk about how much he meant to them. We have a feeling viewers will also be reminiscing about their favorite moments involving the leader of the wolf pack when his final season premieres September 19 on the Discovery Channel.
