Where Do William And Kate Stand About Having A Fourth Baby?
Prince William and Kate Middleton share three beautiful children: George, 8, Charlotte, 6, and Louis, 3. The close-knit family is often seen together going about their day-to-day lives and participating in the many events required of royal family members. In fact, the family of five wrapped up their summer with a trip to Queen Elizabeth's Scottish estate, Balmoral, as reported by Vanity Fair. A source close to the family discussed the vacation with the publication, mentioning how special it was for the queen to spend time with her great-grandchildren, especially following the death of Prince Philip in April. Balmoral has a unique place in Prince William's heart as well. "They always enjoy going up to Balmoral, they love the outdoors and walking in the hills and spending quality time with family," the source revealed. "It's where William spent a lot of his childhood and it's important to him that his children experience what he did as a young boy."
Spending the last weekend of the summer at Balmoral is a time-honored tradition for the queen, and is one of the few opportunities she gets to spend with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren aside from major holidays. The source told Vanity Fair, "It has become a tradition in recent years ... [and] has turned into one big sleepover with lots of the queen's grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Her Majesty enjoys it immensely."
The queen currently boasts 11 great-grandchildren, but will there be any more coming from the Cambridge family? Keep scrolling to find out!
There are many reasons why William and Kate are inclined to stick with their three children
It is unlikely that Prince William and Kate Middleton will be having a fourth baby —and there are several reasons for this, reports Us Weekly. Firstly, the Duchess of Cambridge comes from a family of five and is one of three children. Royal expert Nick Bullen explained this point to the publication. "I think they feel that they've got a pretty perfect family," he said. "I think Kate was always keen to follow with her parents ... and have that sort of family of five. She's [now] matched it. And I think my view is [that] they'll probably stop here." Additionally, during all three of her pregnancies, Kate suffered from extreme morning sickness, also known as hyperemesis gravidarum. While the condition didn't prevent her from having three babies, Bullen believes it may factor into her decision to have a fourth.
As for the Duke of Cambridge, it's likely that three children hits the sweet spot for him as well. During a royal appearance in January 2020, Kate revealed to a fan that she wasn't sure the prince would be on board with another baby, per Us Weekly. "I don't think William wants any more," the duchess said. It seems that the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have plenty to occupy their time aside from raising the three children they already have, including promoting their charities and foundation.
The Duke and Duchess of Cambridge have three wonderful children to raise
If Prince William and Kate Middleton decide definitively that three children is enough for them, they still have their hands plenty full. Fortunately, George, Charlotte, and Louis are reported to share a close bond, which makes watching them grow up together truly enjoyable for the proud parents.
In October 2019, a royal insider opened up about the couple's children to Us Weekly. "They love playing together and being creative," the insider revealed. "Painting, baking and building things are all activities they enjoy, and now that Louis' a bit older, he gets involved too." The children experience sibling rivalry just like any other family, but the source says that they get along well for the most part. "[They] usually [bicker] over silly things like toys or what TV shows they want to watch," the source said. "But most of the time they get on."
According to People, the three Cambridge children have varied personalities. A royal insider discussed the personalities of the two oldest. "George is more reserved, and Charlotte is more outgoing," they said. It seems that the differences between George and Charlotte mimic the differences between their father and his brother, Prince Harry. "Harry is much more laid-back and William is the more serious one because he will be king one day," the source continued. While Louis is still growing into himself, at 3 years old he is very much a "mommy's boy," the insider added.
