What Did Kaley Cuoco's Ex Husband Ask To Be Returned?

Kaley Cuoco filed for divorce from her soon-to-be ex-husband, Karl Cook, on September 3, according to E! News. News that "The Flight Attendant" actor had split from her husband of three years came as a shock to fans, as the two appeared extremely happy together, and often shared their love for one another on social media. The couple released a joint statement, asking for privacy during this challenging time. "Despite a deep love and respect for one another, we have realized that our current paths have taken us in opposite directions. We have both shared so much of our journey publicly so while we would prefer to keep this aspect of our personal life private, we wanted to be forthcoming in our truth together," the statement read, in part, according to People magazine.

At the beginning of their marriage, Cuoco and Cook actually lived separate lives — and the two didn't even live together under the same roof. "Yes, we have separate lives...He lets me be me and I let him be him...I've obviously never been in a better relationship and I want this to last the rest of my life so in a way, we're actually taking it slow," Cuoco said during an interview on Brad Goreski's podcast back in 2019, according to E!

The former couple moved in together in 2020, after two years of marriage, according to Entertainment Tonight. However, about a year-and-a-half later, the two announced their split. As divorce proceedings begin, Cook has made an interesting request. Read on to learn more.

Karl Cook cited 'irreconcilable differences' as the reason for the divorce

Both Kaley Cuoco and Karl Cook have filed their respective divorce papers — Cuoco filed first. E! News reports that Cook has since filed a response, and has listed "irreconcilable differences" as the reason for the divorce. He also listed their date of separation as "TBD." According to Us Weekly, neither Cuoco nor Cook are asking for spousal support, and both will be paying their own legal fees. There was one specific request that Cook made, however; he's asked for Cuoco to return "miscellaneous jewelry and other personal effects" as well as "earnings and accumulations," the outlet reported.

Page Six previously reported that Cuoco and Cook had an "ironclad" prenuptial agreement. "Her assets are protected," a source told the outlet. Of course, this would mean that Cook's assets — as the TurboTax heir — were also protected. "There are additional separate property assets and obligations of each party as mandated by the parties' Premarital Agreement," Cook's court documents read, in part, according to E! News. The outlet also reports that Cook's documents seemed to suggest that he will adhere to the couple's prenup, and not contest it. He requested that any "communal property" be "divided" based on "the terms" of that agreement.

Kaley Cuoco & Karl Cook celebrated their 3-year wedding anniversary in June

It's unknown how long Kaley Cuoco and Karl Cook had been having problems, or what really led to their decision to split. In fact, the two had just celebrated their three-year wedding anniversary in June, and they both wrote sweet messages to each other on Instagram. "NY, June [30], 2016 is the year we met. [Two] years to the day before we got married and now [three] years married! Why have you stayed married to me for so long?! I'm sincerely impressed @mrtankcook lol I love you oh so much you have no idea ...happy anniversary!!!" Cuoco captioned a black-and-white Instagram pic.

Meanwhile, Cook took a more comical approach to the special day, sharing a not-so-flatted photo of Cuoco on his Instagram account. "I am just as amazed it's been...three years, feel like just a flash. I love you so much and I can't wait for a million more years," he captioned his post. Who would have ever guessed that these two would end their marriage just three months later?
