Here's What Doja Cat Looks Like Without Makeup

Many people enjoy seeing Doja Cat in her element because she's quirky and relatable, her rap pen and mind are extremely powerful, and she comes up with some seriously otherworldly makeup looks.

Doja Cat, also known as Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, was dropping songs on Soundcloud when she was just 15 years old, taking charge of her own artistic expression and creating memorable aesthetics to pair well with her catchy songs. Growing up around painters such as her grandmother and mother, whom she describes as a "full-on hippie from the '60s" according to Doja (via Billboard), helped her feel inspired to take control of her own innovative style. "A lot of that inspired me to take up fashion and visual, experimental things," Doja said, via Billboard.

It's no wonder the "Planet Her" singer's latest album drop references intergalactic themes; her makeup skills are out of this world. As interesting and intricate as Doja Cat's makeup is, we were curious to find out what the "Kiss Me More" singer looks like when she isn't an intergalactic space hottie.

Doja Cat bared it all on Instagram

Doja Cat doesn't take herself too seriously, no matter how silly she may come across. That's why, when she uploaded a beautifully bare selfie on Instagram in February, she paired it with the caption, "my face when i'm looking at instagram comments" to match her unamused facial expression.

Many people were surprised on social media and pointed out how different Doja Cat looks when she is rocking her au naturel style. But who genuinely expects Doja Cat to look naturally holographically glowy with sharp elongated eyeliner and circles cascading her face? In Doja's "Beauty Secrets" video with Vogue, she shared that her makeup journey started at 13 years old. Doja would log on to Pinterest and look at different Tumblr E-girls who "were wearing a lot of makeup" and gave out different makeup style tips, like the pneumonia red nose trick.

When she's not looking to Tumblr E-girls or her grandma and mom for makeup influences, Doja Cat also looks to '90s rockers and adult film stars for inspiration, according to her key makeup artist, David Velasquez. "We kind of started thinking alike when it comes to makeup. I'll typically give her my inspiration or suggestions for creative," Velasquez said to Nylon in April 2020. "Most of the time we're on the same page, and she's excited to do it. Doja's makeup look right now is Chola '90s Rock Porn Star."

Doja Cat breaks down her routine

Doja Cat's transformation from Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini to a fabulous feline isn't as easy as one may think. It takes a lot of assistance from a range of high-end to affordable skincare products to keep that glowy, healthy skin she shows off. In her "Beauty Secrets" video for Vogue, Doja Cat breaks down the skincare routine she follows to prepare for her advanced makeup routine: "Put an oil on top of your moisturizer and [it] holds it down all day. It's going to make you look sweaty, but that's okay. The oil mixes with your foundation and it makes it look a lot more natural," she said.

Even though it is common for celebrities to use high-end products, Doja Cat is no stranger to using more accessible skincare products to assist with her makeup steps, too. "My next favorite thing in the whole world, Burt's Bees Cleansing Oil. This works better than anything I've ever tried for my Beautyblender," she proclaims. And I put it on my Beautyblender, and I go stupid."

Doja Cat's bare beauty, like her music and style, really is a refreshing thing to witness. The bigger she grows in her music journey, the more intricate and amazing the looks will become. We cannot wait to "Get Into It, Yuh!"

Doja Cat shows off her bare face again

Doja Cat had fans talking again when she shared another beautiful bare-faced photo — however, the reason for the selfie wasn't a happy one. But first, let's recap.

On May 19, Doja Cat tweeted about undergoing emergency tonsil surgery, because her throat was completely messed up. "dr. just had to cut into my left tonsil. i had an abscess in it. my whole throat is f**ked." This occurred during her successful tour with multi-platinum artist, The Weeknd, and during festival season. Sadly, Doja's tonsil issues forced her to cancel future shows (for now) while she heals up from the post-surgery "swelling," as she explained on her Instagram Story (via Billboard). She added, "I feel horrible about this but can't wait for this to heal and get back to making music and create an experience for y'all."

Cut to June 16, when Doja shared an update via Twitter on her tonsil trials and tribulations complete with glowing makeup-free selfies. In one of the shots, which shows Doja recovering in bed while wearing a medical gown, she throws up a peace sign. "looking hot as ever," someone gushed. In glam or make-up free, fans cannot wait till Doja gets better — the "Streets" need her music!
