Legendary Season 3 - Here's What We Can Tell Fans So Far
For the uninitiated, HBO's "Legendary" follows a similar style to that of "RuPaul's Drag Race." However, on closer inspection, "Legendary" is unique enough to fit into a category all its own.
The queer reality show centers around voguing, and if you don't know what that means, don't worry. The term refers to dance movements that imitate models at photoshoots, according to Urban Dictionary. The idea can be traced back to the "Black gay subculture" of ballroom, a specifically LGBTQ+ movement of dancing, walking, and posing for prizes.
Madonna captured the zeitgeist of voguing with her aptly titled 1990 song "Vogue" when she sang, "Strike a pose." Get the picture? With this rich history, "Legendary" is a treasure in the world of competitive reality TV and one that we're dying to see more of. Seasons 1 and 2 kicked off to major audience approval. So what's the scoop with Season 3? Keep reading for more info.
Release date: When can we expect to see Legendary Season 3?
There's happy news for fans of "Legendary." In June, HBO announced that it had renewed the competition show for a third season, according to Deadline. While we can rest assured that we'll see more voguing, an official release date has not yet been announced.
HBO's Jennifer O'Connell, Executive Vice President, Non-Fiction and Live-Action Family Programming, said in a statement: "We've only begun to scratch the surface when it comes to showcasing the beautiful world that is ballroom. We are excited to work with our partners at Scout again to take this show to even greater heights in Season 3 and continuing to shine a light on these compelling stories," per Variety.
Meanwhile, Scout Productions' Chief Creative Officer Rob Eric added: "We are thrilled to return with our friends at HBO Max, as well as our iconic judges and MC Dashaun Wesley, for a third season. We can't wait for the next season's talent to set the bar even higher as we continue to showcase the fabulous world of ballroom." Indeed. So, who's coming back for Season 3?
Cast: Who will we see in Season 3 of Legendary?
"Legendary" operates by dividing contestants into several houses. Each house is led by a Mother or Father, per The Cinemaholic, and every week, the houses compete before a panel of judges to become the Superior House and vie for the $100,000 cash prize.
While we don't know who the contestants are yet, we do know that the iconic judges will be coming back. Performer Dashaun Wesley will be returning as host, per the outlet. Meanwhile, judges Leiomy Maldonado, Jameela Jamil, Law Roach, and Megan Thee Stallion are also returning, per Deadline.
A guest judge joins the panel every episode, as The Cinemaholic reminds, so that's also going to be a fun surprise for audiences in Season 3. Because each episode only runs for 50 minutes, it's a lot to pack in. But "Legendary" manages to hit all the right notes. Audiences certainly seem to think so. Keep reading.

"This one show alone serves more looks, more face, more ferocity than anything else on TV." Decider adds: "There are the houses, the categories, the walk, and the judging, and every moment is unlike anything you've seen before."
