Inside Ginger Zee's Marriage To Ben Aaron
Ginger Zee is widely known as the chief meteorologist for ABC News. According to the network's website, the California native has an impressive track record when it comes to covering some of the deadliest storms that have struck the United States, including Hurricane Matthew, Hurricane Sandy, and the historic floods and wildfires that destroyed parts of Colorado.
The newscaster has always been interested in weather, revealing in a 2012 lecture for the American Meteorological Society that she developed a passion for meteorology when she was 9 years old and witnessed her first waterspout (per The Red & Black). Her parents encouraged her to figure out some way to combine her interest with a job working in television. Zee explained the takeaway message she learned from her experience: "Don't be afraid of what you're good at and what you love. Just do it, because otherwise I don't think you'll be happy. And I'm so happy. I want to share it." Zee made it a life goal to become a national broadcast meteorologist by the age of 30, and that's just what she did, landing her job at ABC in 2011.
When the "Good Morning America" broadcaster isn't busy predicting the country's weather, she spends time with her husband of seven years, Ben Aaron, her 5-year-old son, Adrian Benjamin Colonomos, and 3-year-old son, Miles Macklin. Zee loves her family and often posts photos of the happy bunch on her Instagram page. Keep scrolling to learn more about her marriage to the media personality.
Ginger Zee wasn't always sure Ben Aaron was 'The One'
Ginger Zee and Ben Aaron's relationship began under humorous circumstances. They were introduced to one another through a mutual friend, but despite a connection from the get-go, neither believed they had a chance, per The Netline. In fact, Zee thought Aaron was gay. Thankfully for the meteorologist, this was not true and the two began dating. What most people don't know is that despite the couple's adorable relationship that led to marriage in 2014, Zee was not always certain that she wanted to be with Aaron for the long haul, and even broke up with him more than once before getting engaged. The first time occurred early in the relationship after a handful of dates, and the reason was quite fitting — Zee had a storm to chase.
Speaking to Localish, Zee explained that it only took her a couple of weeks following the first break up for her to realize that she wanted to continue dating Aaron, and luckily, Aaron agreed to a second chance. Imagine his surprise when Zee called it quits for a second time! Once again, neither was ready to accept the end, and a couple months later, they were back at it. Zee explained to Localish why it took her so long to be sure Aaron was The One: "I wanted to be in the right place so I wouldn't hurt [him]," she said. "From that point when I was ready ... we were engaged."
Seven years later, Ginger Zee and Ben Aaron couldn't be happier
It seems that Ginger Zee has not had any more doubts regarding her commitment to her husband, Ben Aaron, as the two have now been married for seven years. The meteorologist took to Instagram to mark the couple's seventh anniversary in July 2021 and posted several adorable photos from their wedding day, giving her followers all the feels. Alongside the photo series, she left a heartwarming caption that read, "Seven years and I must take plenty of antihistamine because I don't feel itchy at all ... I LOVE YOU WITH ALL MY HEART — and I always adore this first photo because it captures you— your compassion, love and dedication to us all. Happy anniversary @benaarontv."
Zee's fans went crazy for the post, sending their love to the couple on their anniversary in the comments section. "Ginger, you were so beautiful!!!! And Ben looked quite dapper and incredibly happy like he just won a great prize!!!! Happy lucky seven!" one social media user wrote.
In addition to spending their lives loving one another, Zee and Aaron have loved getting to grow their family and invite their two boys, Adrian and Miles, into the world. In an interview with Matt Standridge, Zee gushed about becoming a mom. She revealed that she loves the role and finds so much joy in her family. "I've got the best husband and really great friends and family," the television personality proudly declared.
