Nailed It Season 6 Release Date, Cast, And More Information
To call Netflix's "Nailed It!" an incredible baking show feels a little undercooked, underseasoned, and definitely under-selling. The Nicole Byer-helmed reality series is just too over-the-top fabulous to be categorized as a mere cooking show — with a firm following of over 200,000 followers on Instagram alone. The popular program has been renewed for Season 6 and avid fans cannot wait to see what its contestants come up with next.
For those who are new to the show, "Nailed It!" challenges participants to compete in a "Baker's Choice" first round where they try to bake one of three dishes. In the "Nail It or Fail It" finale, the contestants have to recreate an advanced-level cake. Sounds like a standard cooking show, right? Wrong! All the contestants are amateurs. Like, really. They don't have a clue what they're doing and, as your baker friends would say, don't know chiffon fabric from chiffon cake. Of course, the premise lends itself to a hilarious show as competitors try to beat each other for the coveted take-home prize of $10,000.
"Nailed It!" is definitely not your average cooking show, as foodies will attest. The Netflix offering has been nominated for five Emmys, and it took home an MTV Unscripted Movie & TV Award in the lifestyle category this year, per The Wrap. Without further ado, here's the piping hot tea (hopefully not prepared by one of its contestants) on Season 6.
'Nailed It!' Season 6 is coming sooner than you think
Netflix released an official trailer announcing that the baking show's return is imminent. "Nailed It" Season 6 will drop on September 15, per Variety. And according to the promo, it seems as if the contestants will have to face new challenges during the latest season.
What is life without a little whimsy? The trailer begins with the show's host, Nicole Byer, playing with three edible figurines. The creations depict Byer, co-host Jacques Torres, and assistant director Weston Bahr in a miniature version of the "Nailed It!" set. The comedian opens the trailer by trying to imitate Torres' French accent, and teases viewers with snippets of the season to come. The clip doesn't disappoint — the failures are fabulous, and the judges hold nothing back. In fact, one contestant, actor Jack McBrayer, quips, "I just love seeing the misfortune of others!" Of course, this was followed by an epic fail of baking.
Like most Netflix series, all the "Nailed It" episodes will be released simultaneously. While the show is binge-worthy, you can also take your time and enjoy it at your leisure.
Who will appear on 'Nailed It' Season 6?
"Nailed It!" is repeating its recipe for success with its two extraordinary co-hosts. The "Nailed It" Season 6 trailer shows that Nicole Byer and Jacques Torres are back, and saucier than ever. The seasoned judges are well-honed at firing off at each other and encouraging contestants. Wes Bahr is another familiar face that will return to the show in his capacity as assistant director. "Nailed It!" fans also know that the co-hosts love teasing him as well.
Torres is a respected chocolatier and pastry chef. He brings his world-class expertise to the series, and never fails to lend a helping hand. As for Byer, her comedic timing is everything and earned her an Emmy nomination in 2020, per Variety. She made history as the first Black woman to receive the nod for Outstanding Host for a Reality or Competition Program category.
The remaining guest judges include "Veep" star Sam Richardson, rapper Big Freedia, comedians Reggie Watts and June Diana Raphael, and "Saturday Night Live" alumni Sasheer Zamata. "Let's Make A Deal" star Wayne Brady will also make an appearance on the show. In the previously mentioned clip, the multi-award-winning game show host nervously remarks, "I just don't believe this is what's happening." And that, dear Wayne, is the beauty of "Nailed It!"
'Nailed It!' Season 6's new concept
While the producers of "Nailed It!" have kept the tried-and-tested elements of the show, they're also introducing an exciting new concept. It seems as if the show has finally settled the age-old foodie debate of whether one particular type of confectionary classifies as cake. In the Season 6 trailer, Nicole Byer makes a stunning announcement. "For the first time in 'Nailed It!' history, we're going to be making pies!"
As Jacques Torres points out in his delicious French accent in the trailer, "You put a piece of parchment paper, you put the beans. After it cooks, then you must remove them before filling the pie." Of course, at least one contestant decided to place the filling over the pie. At least, the judges got their dose of protein, texture, and legume goodness for the day. Bonus points? Nah!
Season 6 of "Nailed It!" will soon drop. Make sure you're stocked up for the popcorn-worthy series. But be prepared for non-stop laughing and inedible confections. And above all else: do not try this at home.
