The Untold Truth Of Paris Jackson
Paris Jackson was once a shy brunette girl who walked around with masks and veils across her face. The public finally caught a glimpse of the quiet girl in 2009, when her late father the King of Pop Michael Jackson suddenly died. While her family was disheveled, Paris gathered her strength and eloquently spoke before thousands at her father's funeral, reports CNN. Today, she's all grown up, blonde and covered in tattoos. Despite being under the care of family, this 19-year-old starlet has suffered a number of bumps and bruises in her journey to womanhood. Unfortunately, they've all been in the public eye. And there are a number of other facts most may not know about Paris—including her claiming to be black, her birth mother Debbie Rowe is fighting cancer, her love of body hair and more.
Paris believes she's black
In early 2017, Paris kicked off her year with a shocking interview in which she made several head-turning claims. One that baffled most people was her clear voice in her identity as black woman. For years, there has been wide speculation that Michael Jackson was not her father. But as Paris tells Rolling Stone, she's a believer.
"He is my father," she told the magazine. "He will always be my father. He never wasn't, and he never will not be. People that knew him really well say they see him in me, that it's almost scary." Then the conversation turned to race. "I consider myself black," she said. Paris claims her father "would look me in the eyes and he'd point his finger at me and he'd be like, 'You're black. Be proud of your roots.' And I'd be like, 'OK, he's my dad, why would he lie to me?' So I just believe what he told me. 'Cause, to my knowledge, he's never lied to me." She goes on to address how she's perceived. "Most people that don't know me call me white," she said. "I've got light skin and, especially since I've had my hair blond, I look like I was born in Finland or something."
After those quotes circulated across the internet and caused a fire on social media, Jackson backed away from doing further interviews. "Will not be answering any press regarding the Rolling Stone article whatsoever," she tweeted in January. "If you have questions then read it, it's crystal clear. And to those that have been calling my mother and my manager, they will not answer anything either."
Paris is rooting for cancer-stricken mom
Paris' relationship with her mom is unique. For much of the starlet's life, Debbie Rowe, Michael Jackson's second wife, has been absent. As noted in the controversial Rolling Stone interview, Paris wondered who her mother was in her childhood until she summoned the courage to ask her father. At the age of 13, Paris finally met her birth mom but didn't begin to get close until after Paris received treatment for a health episode. Today, they've grown incredibly close and Paris is surely rooting for her mother, who is battling breast cancer.
Talking to Entertainment Tonight, Debbie says Paris has been her "rock" during her grueling treatments. "She's amazing," she adds. "She's been with me the whole time. She was there. First phone call, [it] took her 30 seconds [to reach out] when she found out." Because their bond has grown strong in recent years, Debbie says Paris is her "reason" to rise out of bed each and every day.
In January 2017, Debbie finished her final round of chemotherapy. To commemorate the moment, Paris jumped on social media to share with the world. "My bada** mom, kickin butt n takin names," she captioned a snap of Debbie holding up a sign that reads "Chem done!" It's unclear if her cancer is in remission today.
Her family is pretty crazy
While Paris is attempting to launch a career, help her ailing mother and more, her extended family is running amok. Katherine Jackson, the head of the Jackson family, was at the center of drama in 2012 when someone filed a missing-person report after she disappeared for 10 days. Fast forward to 2017 and the 86-year-old is once again the target of tabloids. According to CNN, Katherine has filed a restraining order against her nephew, Trent, accusing him of elder abuse.
"Trent was supposed to be her driver, but over time he has infiltrated Mrs. Jackson's business and personal affairs, even referring to himself as her 'House Manager,'" read the court document filed my Mrs. Jackson. "Trent has made it his business to regulate Mrs. Jackson's interactions with her children—screening phone calls, not relaying messages, not allowing privacy during visits or phone calls."
To make matters worse, Katherine also claims that Trent has "conned" his way into dipping his hands in her bank accounts. Let's not forget she received a sizable portion of Michael's fortune when he passed away. She also fired him from his post. Insiders tell TMZ Katherine is being kept away from the rest of the family for fears they will intrude and force her to drop the suit.
She's incredibly close to Prince Jackson
While Paris' home life and upbringing may appear odd to some, she's got one solid figure to rely on: her brother Prince Jackson. In late March 2017, the brother-sister duo got matching ying and yang tattoos to symbolize their bond.
"Sometimes I feel like my big brother and I always think the same thoughts, he just doesn't have a filter and always vocalizes them," she captioned an Instagram of their new ink. "Though total opposites, like my gooko and I, the inseparable yin and yang work together finding and causing balance within each other. Matchies with my bestie @princejackson!"
Prince, 20, posted the same image but added the endearing caption, "You are with me and I am with you." It's obvious these two, along with younger brother Blanket, 15, have endured much trauma and agony in the spotlight but lean on each other for support.
She's still attached to her late father
Paris was incredibly close to her late father. And since his death in 2009, Michael has never been far from his daughter. In her Rolling Stone interview, Paris spoke openly about their relationship saying he was a great influence in her life since she had no other parent. In fact, she professes that Michael taught her so much—including cooking. "He was a kick-a** cook," she said noting she and her brothers were home schooled. "His fried chicken is the best in the world. He taught me how to make sweet potato pie."
Michael, of course, taught her good music. "My dad worked with Van Halen, so I got into Van Halen," Paris explained. "He worked with Slash, so I got into Guns N' Roses. He introduced me to Tchaikovsky and Debussy, Earth, Wind and Fire, the Temptations, Tupac, Run-DMC."
When speaking to Harper's Bazaar about her childhood, Paris is quick to declare she was her father's favorite child. "When I was a kid, I was with my dad and my two brothers," she told the magazine (via Us Weekly). "Growing up, I was treated as the favorite because I was the only girl. I was the princess; I was perfect in my dad's eyes."
In the spring of 2016, Paris got a replica of her father's Dangerous album art tattooed on her arm, according to the New York Daily News. "Never forget your roots, and always be proud of where you came from," she captioned an image of her art work honoring her father. It seems that no matter how old Paris gets or no matter the direction her life travels, she'll never forget her father's love.
She loves body hair
While most teen girls are shaving every hair off their body, Paris is busy letting hers grow wild. In an Instagram story posted in March 2017, Jackson showed off two-months growth of armpit hair, according to Refinery 29. After the video took off, the backlash left Paris in a hairy situation.
"I didn't realize that people were going to get so upset over my armpit hair," she beamed in response to the harsh criticism. "I didn't realize that was such an issue. It is so funny."
She then took her response to another level by professing her love for body odor. "I wish I could post some of these responses. You can just tell how angry and infuriated these people are," she said. "I love hair, and sweat, and BO. I f*cking love it, I think it's great. Some people think that it's like super disgusting, especially on girls, but every human body does it. It's natural. Get over it."
There is no shortage of men in her life
Paris has certainly blossomed into a beautiful young woman. With that said, there must be droves of guys dying to take this starlet out on a date. Thus far, she's had two serious boyfriends in her life. According to People, her first was a guy name Chester Castellaw and they had a very public date at a Deaf West Theater production of Spring Awakening in 2015. Paris was just 17. Insiders say Paris was very affection and social with her then boyfriend. Despite things seemingly going well, the pair split.
Then she matched up with Michael Snoody, reports the site. Snoody, by all appearances, looked more her style. He's covered in tattoos with an unmistakable grunge flavor The pair shared many romantic moments together, most of which were captured on Instagram. He even helped Paris celebrate her 18th birthday. Things were headed in a positive direction as Paris even took Michael to her famous childhood home, Neverland Ranch.
Unfortunately, as Paris' career began to take off in early 2017, the pair split. As with teenagers, it's unclear if they'll rekindle their flame. When it comes to dating, any man praying for five minutes with her must quickly demonstrate his brains. "Sorry but if you don't show me some intellect on the first date it ain't happenin boo," she quipped on Twitter.
She's got a dark history of mental illness
Being the daughter of an Icon and a product of an incredibly famous family comes with its own set of troubles. Unfortunately, these were exacerbated when Michael died. In June 2013, Paris, who was deeply depressed and on drugs, attempted suicide. The situation became a media spectacle. She tells Rolling Stone that at age 15, she slashed her wrist and swallowed 20 Motrin pills in an attempt to end her own life. "It was just self-hatred," she described the dark time. "Low self-esteem, thinking that I couldn't do anything right, not thinking I was worthy of living anymore." While that incident was highly publicized, Paris confessed to attempting suicide "multiple times" before. "It was just once that it became public," she added.
From there, she attended a residential therapy program in Utah to help her through her issues. "It was great for me," she told the magazine of her treatment. "I'm a completely different person... I was crazy. I was actually crazy. I was going through a lot of, like, teen angst. And I was also dealing with my depression and my anxiety without any help."
Today, Paris says she's not on any medication. Some of tattoos, of which she has over 50 reports MTV, cover the marks on her wrists.
She's very very fiery and defensive
While some stars hold their tongue on social media, Paris is full of fire. She's not afraid to unleash a bit of diva on anyone trolling her timeline. In April, she snapped back at critics saying she put on some weight by tweeting, "F*** yeah I have." Although it wasn't the best response to give, it proved she's not taking any crap on social media.
In another incident, someone tweeted "WTF do you know about poverty" to which she barked back, "Probably just as much as you know about racial profiling and homophobia but hey at least I'm putting in an effort buddy." Others are simply trying to push her buttons to get a rouse out of her. Paris is seemingly catching on. "I'm actually using my platform for activism regarding poverty, the environment, lgbtq, women around the world, immigrants, etc," she proudly announced to naysayers.
She's also political, too. Paris is known to retweet anything about climate change and disgust for the current Trump administration.
2017 Belongs to Paris
At just 19, Paris has lived a full life with many ups and downs. Now that she's stable with a positive outlook, she's ready to conquer the world. In fact, it appears her management team is positioning her to become the next big star in Hollywood.
