The Truth About Rami Malek's Twin Brother
He's an Oscar-winning actor who broke into the movie mainstream playing the legendary Freddie Mercury of Queen in the hit film, "Bohemian Rhapsody." But before he brought the late frontman to life, Rami Malek was best known for his work on the hit USA Network show, "Mr. Robot."
Did you know that Rami was also one of the more than 3,000 actors to audition for the part of young Han Solo in the Ron Howard-directed film "Solo: A Star Wars Story"? The Hollywood Reporter revealed that nearly every actor in Hollywood — from the well-known like Dave Franco and Ansel Elgort to the relatively unknown like Jack Reynor and Joshua Sasse — tried out for the role that Harrison Ford originally made famous. In the end, "Beautiful Creatures" star Alden Ehrenreich won the role of a young Han Solo, but Rami has an Oscar, so it's safe to say he'll be alright.
Speaking of unexpected facts about the actor, did you know that Rami Malek has a twin brother? Let's take a look at what we know about him.
Sami Malek will make fans do a double-take
Talk about seeing double! Rami Malek has an identical twin brother named Sami Malek. But unlike his famous older brother — who is older than him by a whopping four minutes! — Sami prefers to remain out of the limelight. According to the STEM Academy of Hollywood, where he once taught, he has two bachelor's degrees from UCLA and a Master of Arts degree from Loyola Marymount University. He got his start as a teacher through Teach for America, and he's been an ESL and English teacher ever since.
Rami actually confessed to Jimmy Kimmel that he and his twin brother do the classic "twin switch" thing. When the shy Sami had to deliver a monologue, yet wasn't up to it, his twin brother Rami stepped up to the plate. "I deliver this monologue in front of the entire lecture hall and I get a few bits of applause, people dig it," he said. "And I think she [the professor] starts looking at me kind of accusatory, like, 'Where the hell did you come up with that?'" Whatever the case, both brothers are very handsome!
