What The Cast Of Clueless Looks Like Today
It's hard to believe the movie Clueless is more than 20 years old. The film, starring Alicia Silverstone, tells the tale of Cher Horowitz, a wealthy Beverly Hills high schooler, on her quest to bring happiness to everyone in her life. In real life, Cher and her friends would be 38 years old this year. While Cher would probably have to say "As if!" about pushing 40, we want to share where the cast of the iconic '90s movie is today.
Alicia Silverstone
Alicia Silverstone is no longer the blonde, wide-eyed teen she played as Cher in Clueless. Okay, she's still blonde, but Silverstone is now a 40-year-old blogger, author and mom. Silverstone shares her son Bear with her husband, musician Christopher Jarecki. Her book, The Kind Mama, is all about empowering women before, during and after pregnancy. Silverstone writes about her own experiences and calls upon advice from holistic health counselors, obstetricians, midwives and others.
Silverstone's book was met with controversy, and experts warned moms to consult their pediatricians before following most of her recommendations. Some of the controversial advice included advising women to potty train children at 6 months old, pre-chew their baby's food and many other unique takes on pregnancy and motherhood.
Silverstone is also an animal activist, and created even more recent controversy when she posed nude for PETA on a New York City billboard in November 2016.
Stacey Dash
Stacey Dash, now 50 years old (yes, 50!), stayed relatively out of the spotlight after she was done playing Dionne, until she became a Fox News contributor in 2014. Her contract was not renewed in the fall of 2016, The Hollywood Reporter said. She ignited plenty of controversy while there, getting suspended for a brief time for swearing on the air while ranting about President Obama. She also shared harsh views on immigration and transgender issues.
Dash, who has appeared on BET's The Game, also called for getting rid of the network and Black History Month. "We have to make up our minds," she told BET. "Either we want to have segregation or integration. And if we don't want segregation, then we need to get rid of channels like BET and the BET Awards and the Image Awards, where you're only awarded if you're black. If it were the other way around, we would be up in arms. It's a double standard."
Dash has also spoken out about being the victim of rape and domestic violence in her book There Goes My Social Life: From Clueless to Conservative. Dash was allegedly raped at gunpoint by an ex-boyfriend and stalker a few years before her Clueless fame. The book said (via E! News) that she was sexually assaulted while her son Austin, who was a baby at the time, slept nearby.
Brittany Murphy
Brittany Murphy played transfer student Tai Frasier, coining the ultimate dis ("You're a virgin who can't drive!"). Post-Clueless, Murphy starred in a string of movies in all different genres. She was Eminem's love interest in 8 Mile, a romantic comedy lead in Uptown Girls and had a part in the star-studded Sin City.
Unfortunately, Murphy passed away in December 2009 at the age of 32. Murphy's death was ruled accidental, US Weekly reported. She died from a combination of pneumonia, anemia and drug intoxication.
Donald Faison
Gone are his days of getting accused of jeepin'. Donald Faison, who played Dionne's on-again, off-again boyfriend Murray, is now 42. Post-Clueless, Faison is most well-known for his role as Dr. Christopher Turk in the TV show Scrubs.
Faison's second wife is CaCee Cobb, former personal assistant and BFF of Jessica Simpson. The two have a son Rocco, who's best friends with Simpson's son Ace, and a daughter named Wilder Frances Faison, according to US Weekly. In March 2017, Faison mourned the loss of his first wife Lisa Askey, whom he had three children with: twins Kaya and Dade, who are 18, and son Kobe, 15.
Paul Rudd
Paul Rudd, who played stepbrother turned love interest Josh, went on to become a major movie star. Since Clueless, he made a name for himself in comedies like Anchorman, The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Night at the Museum, Knocked Up and more. He also had recurring roles on shows like Friends, Reno 911! and Parks and Recreation.
Rudd is also known as the "nice guy," in Hollywood, according to The Guardian. In interviews, journalists almost always remark on his kindness. His co-stars echo the sentiment, with Parks and Rec co-star Amy Poehler commenting on Rudd as "Mr. Perfect." and Stephen Colbert saying Rudd is "the nicest person on the planet," describing the time Rudd sang "Oops!...I Did it Again" to entertain Colbert's six-year-old.
Elisa Donovan
Clueless bad girl Elisa Donovan has left her character Amber behind. She played the villain in the movie and then went on to play Amber for three years in the follow-up Clueless TV series. Donovan also had a role on the TGIF show Sabrina the Teenage Witch. Since then, she married Charlie Bigelow (a man she met in Mexico on vacation) in September 2016.
Donovan, 46, is also a mom to 3-year-old Scarlett, who she says dresses herself. "She either looks like a renegade punk or a 65-year-old botanist. She totally cracks me up and is entirely her own person. Both my husband and my mother say she is exactly like me, so I guess it's divine providence and payback," Donovan told People. Now all Donovan needs to do is teach Scarlett her Clueless catchphrase, "Whatever!"
Wallace Shawn
Mr. Hall, aka the man who played the lover of Italian roast coffee and Ms. Geist, was played by Wallace Shawn. Shawn has been in many off-Broadway plays, and his February 2017 play, Evening at the Talk House was his first new one in seven years. He brought on Matthew Broderick to co-star, according to The Hollywood Reporter.
Shawn admitted to The Guardian he "lives off doing voices in cartoons." Perhaps one may remember his voice as Rex in the Toy Story trilogy or any of the Toy Story TV movies.
Twink Caplan
Twink Caplan, who portrayed lonely teacher Ms. Geist in both the Clueless movie and TV series, has had steady (albeit not all that memorable) work since the movie's debut. She was a bus driver on CSI, a dance instructor on Community and played a hairstylist in the pilot episode of Feud.
Caplan always seems to be down for a Clueless reunion too. She told Good Morning America, "I think Miss Geist would be married to Mr. Hall, would've retired, and he teaches at a college and I write romantic novels. That are really dirty." (via ABC News).
Jeremy Sisto
Definitely not a "snob and a half" in real life, Jeremy Sisto, who played resident jerk Elton, has been in a string of television shows since Clueless. He had roles on Six Feet Under, Law and Order and Suburgatory.
Sisto has since reunited with Silverstone twice, once at the American Music Awards in 2015 and on the set of Suburgatory in 2012.
Silverstone told E! News how excited she was to watch Sisto in a new role on Suburgatory: "And then we did Clueless and [Elton] was snotty and hip and thought he was all that. It was so fun to see him as a dad — a grown dad with so much love and warmth and charm."
Breckin Meyer
Breckin Meyer, who played Travis, the laid-back love interest of Tai, has an ABC sitcom in the works. Deadline reported the actor created and will executive produce the comedy, which will revolve around a newly single dad navigating fatherhood and dating. The twist of the show will be that he is living in the guest house of his ex-wife's new love interest.
Meyer may have some personal experience—he split with his wife of a decade, Deborah Kaplan, in 2012.
Justin Walker
Rat Pack wannabe Christian was played by Justin Walker. Walker has been relatively out of mainstream Hollywood for years. He starred in some B-movies with names like Big Monster on Campus and I Shaved My Legs for This in 2000 and 2001, respectively.
Since then, Walker has transitioned to the food business, Bustle reported. He is now an owner of a Tacone Flavor Grill in Rancho Mirage, Calif. He also told Entertainment Weekly in a Clueless reunion interview that he imagines Christian would be an "aging Lady Gaga back-up dancer" by now.
