What Happened Between Marcela Valladolid And Paul Hollywood?
As one of the judges on "The Great British Baking Show," Paul Hollywood immediately earned a loyal viewership and following. The acclaimed pastry chef was known for being a tough critic of the show's contestants, which made his scarcely-given handshake of approval something quite desired by bakers, per Vulture. He became so popular among viewers that when an American version of "The Great British Baking Show," called "The American Baking Competition," was announced, he was sent off to the United States to co-host the show with Marcela Valladolid, as noted by The Sun.
Unfortunately, around the same time that this move happened, rumors began to swirl about the nature of Hollywood and Valladolid's relationship. The chatter of an affair at work ultimately cost Hollywood his marriage, per Distractify, and forever tarnished his impeccable reputation. So, what really happened between Marcela Valladolid and Paul Hollywood? Keep scrolling to find out.
Did Paul Hollywood and Marcela Valladolid have an affair?
Jeff Foxworthy hosted "The American Baking Competition" with Paul Hollywood and Marcela Valladolid serving as co-hosts of the show. The American version of the show was nowhere near as successful as the British version, and after just seven episodes, it was canceled, per The Sun. However, many believe that while filming the first and final season, Hollywood and Valladolid had an affair. Despite the speculation, neither Hollywood nor Valladolid have confirmed the rumors about their relationship — although Hollywood admitted to having an affair with an unnamed person. "I did have an affair in America with my co-judge and it was something which ... it was the biggest mistake of my life, because actually I still love my wife," Hollywood said in a BBC Radio interview in October 2013.
Alex Hollywood went on to forgive her husband and take him back. But, that fix was only temporary — they ultimately filed for divorce in 2017, and then split for good. Alex later admitted to the The Telegraph (via Hello!) that she "lost herself" in the marriage. "When you get married and have children, it's easy to lose yourself. I'm not complaining because I was happy, but then someone else rips everything up and it wakes you up to who you are," she explained.
Valladolid, meanwhile, is engaged to Philip Button, per Mirror, and has three children: son Fausto, whom she shares with her ex-husband, and son, David, and daughter, Anna, whom she had with Button.
