The Cast Of Moonlight Lands Calvin Klein Underwear Campaign

After their big night at the Academy Awards—including winning best picture—Moonlight's Mahershala Ali, Trevante Rhodes, Ashton Sanders, and Alex Hibbert are now Calvin Klein models.

Creative director at Calvin Klein, Pieter Mulier, explains, "Since the beginning, Calvin Klein's underwear imagery has always made big statements about masculinity; the performances of these actors in Moonlight affected us deeply and made big statements about masculinity in a different way. Somehow we wanted to bring the two together."

The fashion brand's Spring 2017 men's underwear campaign features classic black and white images, shot by photographer Willy Vanderperre, that will appear as print advertisements and on billboards. One image captures Sanders looking pensive while sprawled out on a couch, while a photo of Ali—the first Muslim actor to win an Oscar—shows the freshly-minted Academy Award winner pulling on a cotton crew neck shirt with his toned stomach on perfect display.

Rhodes' swoon-worthy ad is more revealing, as he wears only a cotton brief and a smile while resting on a leather chair. Meanwhile, Hibbert's photo remains tasteful for a young actor: the 12-year-old models a dark T-shirt and explains his love of clothes, "It's just like the attitude...the personality. Like, it can be like me―dark inside and bright outside."

Adding to their growing list of achievements, the new ads mark the first major fashion campaign for all four actors.
