The Truth About Daonte And Nicolle From Love After Lockup

"Love After Lockup" follows the relationships of couples who met while one of them was behind bars. The couples meet online, on social media, or through pen pal sites such as WriteAPrisoner.com, per People. All the couples on the show are engaged and plan to get married once the incarcerated partner is released, but the road to marriage is often more problematic than they hoped.

Season 3 features Daonte, who eagerly awaited the release of his fiancée Nicolle. In a long teaser for the show, Daonte described himself as "a hopeless romantic" who had a lousy dating track record. "My relationship history is kinda sad," he said in a confessional. Even though he is a self-described "nice-looking guy" who lives on his own, Daonte has struggled to find a long-term partner. "I always envisioned that I would be married by the time I was 28, and here I am 33, and I'm still not married. But I'll never give up on that dream," he told the cameras.

Nicolle was not the first inmate that Daonte had dated. He fell hard for another woman who was behind bars, and sent her so much money and gifts that he was forced to move back in with his mother to save cash, per People. So while Nicolle isn't Doante's first go at inmate intimacy, keep reading to find out how much he's spent on her.

Daonte has spent tens of thousands on Nicolle already

Nicolle had been behind bars for four years after being convicted of robbery, as revealed in a June 11 teaser for "Love After Lockdown." She and Daonte met on the Paper Dolls Penpals website, and dated for over a year before her release. During one of their visits, Daonte surprised Nicolle with an impromptu proposal which she accepted.

To celebrate his fiancée's release from prison, Daonte prepared an extravagant welcome home package which included an iPhone with Airpods, a couple of Michael Kohrs watches, several pairs of Air Jordans, lingerie, and $1,000 cash, per Starcasm. Daonte's mother confronted her son about his spending. He admitted, per the YouTube teaser, to spending between $20,000 and $30,000 on Nicolle during their courtship.

Even though Daonte had previously dated an inmate, he said "Nicolle is the love of my life" during an earlier short teaser. Prior to Nicolle's conviction, she was "known for being a party girl," per People. The couple hit a rocky patch, and are shown arguing at home. "You're sitting here in my house ... making a joke outta me," Daonte said in the short teaser. In another scene, his mother weighs in on the couple's issues. "I don't think you have a problem being intimate," she says to Nicolle. "I think you have a problem being intimate with him."

Will they stay together now that Nicolle is released?
