Bachelor In Paradise's Astrid Loch And Kevin Wendt Announce Baby News
Astrid Loch is pregnant! The "Bachelor in Paradise" star and her fiance, Kevin Wendt, shared the special news on their respective Instagram accounts on Mother's Day. "Happy 1st Mother's Day to my queen. This is a very big day for us, after a long and tough road to get here. The [The Wendt Gang] is officially growing!! Thank you [Astrid] for giving me the one thing I've wanted most in my life," Kevin captioned an Instagram photo in which Astrid held up their ultrasound photos. Astrid shared an Instagram post of her own, adding the caption "A dream come true. One of the first conversations [Kevin] and I had was about how we both loved kids and couldn't wait to have our own. When I think about Kev holding our little angel for the first time my heart flutters. Even in my wildest dreams I couldn't have imagined how amazing this would all feel."
Astrid and Kevin met on Season 5 of "Bachelor in Paradise." Although they both left Mexico single, the two reunited after the show — and have pretty much been together ever since, according to E! News. Astrid moved to Canada — where Kevin works as a firefighter — in 2018, and about a year later, the two got engaged, according to Us Weekly.
In an article published on May 9, the couple opened up about their pregnancy journey in an interview with People magazine. Read on for more.
Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt revealed they did IVF
Astrid Loch and Kevin Wendt tried to get pregnant for a year, but weren't able to conceive. They sought help from a fertility clinic, and ultimately decided to try IVF just before Christmas 2020, according to People. Astrid told the outlet that she started with intrauterine insemination (IUI), but ended up having an ectopic pregnancy. After terminating that pregnancy, Astrid and Kevin decided to try IVF — and they had success. "We spent a lot of nights in tears because we just didn't understand why it wasn't working for us. Growing up, you're always taught to not get pregnant and it always seems so easy on TV to get pregnant. Then you actually try and it's actually really tricky," Kevin told People.
In her Instagram caption, Astrid included a special message to others who may be having a hard time getting pregnant. "To all the couples trying to get pregnant, my heart is with you. We know first hand how hard it can be to see these kinds of posts and feel sad & discouraged. We too struggled with fertility and conceiving naturally – it's the toughest thing we've ever been through and I can't wait to share more of how we got here. But today is finally about some good news & we hope you can enjoy it with us," she wrote.
The couple plans to share updates on their growing family by way of "The Wendt Gang" Instagram account.
