Billie Eilish's Latest Tweet Has Fans Wondering If She Just Revealed Big News
When Billie Eilish talks, we listen. The teen superstar has been in the news a lot lately for everything from her closely-guarded personal life to her incredible career. In April, Eilish made headlines when she made a rare public appearance with a mysterious actor thought to be her new boyfriend. The last anyone heard, Eilish was mending her heartbreak from a long-term (and very private) relationship with an artist named Q, which she opened up about in the Apple TV documentary, "Billie Eilish: The Worlds A Little Blurry."
While fans are always excited to keep up with her mysterious and ever-changing personal life, the most devoted are even more excited by her professional developments. Eilish might be the biggest name in pop music right now, but the teen has only had one album to date, "When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?". Since the 2019 release, fans have been eagerly awaiting a follow-up. While she has released new singles — including a James Bond theme — fans are still waiting on that sophomore album.
Fans had reason to hope, though, when Eilish teased a new song on April 26. Read on to find out what it might mean.
Billie Eilish might be hinting at something
Billie Eilish stans could barely contain their excitement when the singer posted a 15-second clip of a new song to her Instagram and Twitter on April 26, 2021. The song is entitled "Happier than Ever." A bleach-blond Eilish peers over the back of a fluffy armchair while singing: "When I'm away from you, I'm happier than ever," over some acoustic strings. The track isn't totally new, though. Eilish teased the song in her Apple documentary earlier in the year, per Pitchfork. Fans are hopeful that the new single won't be a stand-alone, that it will finally single the imminent release of her much anticipated sophomore album.
"SHES COMING," exclaimed one fan in response to the clip. "NEW ERA," wrote another. "billie eilish patsy cline era???" shared a third user.
So what's the song all about, and what might it indicate about the yet unannounced album? In her documentary, Eilish explained that the song was about finding contentment after a breakup. "I thought the whole song was just more like nothing even specific that they did, you're just not happy being with them," she said, per Billboard. "You can't even explain it."
If the new song does signal a new album, it could also mean that Eilish will be exploring her personal life and heartbreak more in-depth through the album, but until Eilish makes a formal statement, all we can do is wait and wonder.
