The Sweet Moment At The Oscars Red Carpet That Captured Hearts
Alan Kim has been one of the breakout stars of the 2021 awards season and Oscars night was no exception. The child actor plays the son of a South Korean immigrant family in "Minari", which has been nominated in several categories. Loosely based on writer-director Lee Isaac Chung's childhood, the film also stars Steven Yeun, who is nominated in the Best Actor category.
Kim has kept fans entertained with his adorable antics since "Minari" premiered. Shortly before hitting the red carpet, he posted a series of pictures on Instagram, showing off his Thom Browne suit (complete with shorts and long socks) while he walked his dog. "It's time for the Oscars, but first I have to walk Cream," the caption read. "Now it's off to the show! Thank @theacademy and @thombrowne."
On the Oscars red carpet, he told People how he had recently spent his recent ninth birthday. "I got a FitBit for kids, a new bike obviously, a new iPad mini 5, and that was really cool," Kim said, adding that his family also went out for dinner. "It was really good." However, his most endearing moment needed no words.
Alan Kim's moves blew up online
One particular red carpet moment courtesy of Alan Kim likely won over every viewer. Per the Independent, Kim was accompanied by the producer of "Minari," Christina Oh. Before the biggest night in Hollywood began, the actor was filmed shuffling like a robot along the red carpet. The clip quickly blew up on Twitter, with one user calling it "the cutest thing [they'd] seen all day." "STAHP OMG SO CUTE GIVE HIM ALL THE AWARDS," another online devotee tweeted in an all-caps declaration. Another person chimed in, "Is he pretending to walk like a penguin because of his outfit? So cute!"
He was also praised for his honesty. When Giuliana Rancic asked whether there was one celebrity he wanted to see at the Oscars, Kim politely denied having any favorites. "No, not really," the actor said. "I'm fine with anybody." It seems like no matter how many Academy Awards "Minari" wins, Kim will definitely walk away with everyone's hearts.
