Anna Duggar Announces She's Pregnant With Baby No. 7
Anna Duggar will soon be able to say that she's more than a third of the way to catching up with the number of offspring that her mother-in-law is famous for having. In an Instagram post, Anna announced that she and her husband, former "19 Kids and Counting" star Josh Duggar, are expecting their seventh child.
Once upon a time, a TLC camera crew would have documented Anna's pregnancy for the Duggar family's reality series. However, she has rarely been featured on the show's reboot, "Counting On," since Josh's molestation scandal and cheating confession tarnished the wholesome image of his conservative Christian family (via In Touch Weekly). Josh has not appeared on the show at all, but Anna regularly shares photos of her spouse on her Instagram page. He was present in the video and photo that accompanied her birth announcement, and the couple was also joined by their six children: Mackynzie Renée, Michael James, Meredith Grace, Marcus Anthony, Mason Garrett, and Maryella Hope, who was named after Josh's late grandmother, Mary Duggar.
The girls will outnumber the boys when Anna gives birth again. To reveal that she's having another daughter, she and Josh stood in a grassy field and held a clear umbrella over their heads. When they opened it up, they were showered with pink confetti. Their kids sprinted toward the camera, with Mackynzie holding baby Maryella in her arms. Fans can now commence guessing which "M" name the couple will choose next.
Josh and Anna Duggar's growing family size worries some fans
Anna Duggar's pregnancy announcement sparked a debate among her Instagram followers over how many children is too many. "How do you afford all those kids? Does Josh even work?" read one response to her post. Anna replied, "Yes, my husband is a diligent worker and provides well for our family."
Some of Anna's supporters deemed the question "rude," but Josh himself has expressed concern about being able to financially support a large family. During a 2011 "Today" interview, he quipped that he and Anna were planning on having 25 kids before getting serious about his feelings about family size. "I always say that jokingly, but there's a lot that goes into a family, and a lot of hard work, and that point often gets overlooked, especially with the harshness the economy is going through now," he stated. Josh went on to say that he considers it a "sacrifice to be able to raise a child and do it well, whether you have one sacrifice or 19." He and Anna do not use birth control, saying that they're leaving their family size "up to God."
Luckily, Josh likely learned a few tricks on how to make a dollar stretch by watching his own parents raise 19 children. He and Anna currently reside in Arkansas, where Josh is supporting their growing brood by working at his family's used car lot.
