The Truth About Dierks Bentley's Wife
Dierks Bentley and his wife, Cassidy Black, go way back. Sure, they've been married since 2005, but we're talking way farther back than that. Bentley and Black grew up in Phoenix and actually met in the eighth grade! In a 2007 interview with People, Bentley admitted he wasn't cool enough for Black back then. He said, "I was way too immature and into drinking beer and guns and blowing things up." He dated her best friend instead and got close to Black that way, The Netline reported. But what's good for the goose is also good for the gander and Black dated his best friend too.
Bentley and Black ended up dating in high school, but soon found themselves separated again when Bentley moved to Nashville at 19 to pursue his country music career and Black moved to San Francisco to work in advertising. Bentley didn't give up, however, and he told Taste of Country that he wrote her love letters all along and sent them via FedEx. He admitted they were a bit over the top, saying, "That's why I married her! I was worried I'd get blackmailed with those letters!" Black replied, "I did save them and thought I could always sell them on eBay!"
By 2003, Bentley was a rising star in the world of country music. His first album was out and it's first single "What Was I Thinkin'" hit No. 1 on the Billboard Country Songs chart.
Their timing was finally right
Cassidy Black showed up at a 2005 Dierks Bentley concert in Las Vegas. As soon as he saw her, he knew she was "the one" for him and he didn't waste any time. He told People, "Finally, I was playing a show in Las Vegas, and opening for George Strait, and she walked on the bus. I kind of knew at that that was the moment."
Black quit her job in San Francisco and moved to Nashville to be with Bentley. Ten months later, the couple found themselves in Las Vegas for a Bentley show once again and Dierks proposed to Cassidy. The very next morning, Bentley sprung another surprise on Black: He wanted to elope to Mexico that day. He even had a Chloe wedding dress flown in for Black, People reported.
Black said, "I was speechless—I had just gotten engaged the night before. We got married in a little chapel in Mexico, and it was beautiful and private and real."
Bentley named his album Black after his wife, and she stars in the title track's music video.
Fast forward 16 years later and the couple is going strong with three kids — Evelyn Day, Jordan, Catherine, and Knox, CountryFancast reports. Beyond that, Black mostly lays low, spending time running, being a mom, and occasionally popping up on red carpets with her husband, according to The Netline.
